Why i probably wont buy another Honda.
Why i probably wont buy another Honda.
I have a problem with a maker selling their best cars overseas and not making them available in the US. For chrissakes, look at the hundreds of millions spent to make our Hondas faster. They cant see the market for the Super Civic here???

b/c Honda wont bring the type-Rs here, you wont get another Honda? Thats a shame... in 2 ways. But I hope you change your mind.
I would agree IF Honda was the last import company not to bring their hyped up cars over... but they arent. BMW has their hyped up M3 not in the US, Nissan had the S15 and GT-R never in the US....

What i dont get is you can buy a type r engine and install it into a us car with all the smog equipment and california will pass it. My friend just did it and passed with flying colors. Dosnt make much since.

You do realize that sales of these "compact sports cars" (such as the SRT-4, ITR, etc.) don't make up very much of total sales. In spite of the fact that most enthusiasts love these cars, the simple truth is that they don't sell all that well or constitute much of a profit for automakers (more so in N. America where the market generally wants Stupid Useless Vehicles (SUVs), minivans, and family sedans).
what he said is very true. High performace cars are loved by the enthusists, but in the long road, their sale #'s are not that high.
Not that the Lexus IS300 is such a big HP sports car or anything, but I love it. And their sale numbers were so bad this year, that they're supposed to drop it out of the lineup next year. (well 06 models).
I got production numbers for WRX STI's
WRX STi with Gold Wheels - 2,783 units
WRX STi with Silver Wheels - 4,427 units
Total WRX STi - 7,210 units
and from message boards I see people reporting about
5000 EVO models produced.
those aren't huge numbers compared to mid 200k civics reported,
"In fact, 2003 was Toyota's best year ever, with U.S. sales exceeding 1.8 million vehicles and North American sales totaling more than 2 million."
compare 5000 vehicles to the scope of ONE auto brand having sales over 1.8 million vehicles sold in one year (in the US).

You're not going to buy a brand cause they have better cars over seas and won't bring them here huh? Good luck finding a manufacturer that doesn't have better cars over seas. Nissan Skyline ring a bell? Even the big three have some better and different cars that you can't get here. This is the Us where some dumb a$$ mullet would rather spend their money on a gas gussling SUV than some suped up little "import". It's every car maker not just Honda and it is the US's fault not the manufacturers.
good point but
I live overseas and I get a chance to see all the real high horsepower cars. I know what your saying but the US has speed limits and the roads are not designed for real fast vehicles. But about honda thats why no matter what honda civic or accord you buy. There is always an engine swap. So why not build a sleeper and be happy. This website is for honda lovers and know I love mine.

The sad truth is we, as car enthusists, are a severe minority in a large market.
The amount of money Honda would spend trying to sell the Type-R here would greatly outweight the profit they would reap. Althought it might me in theyre intrest to release a small number of Type-R's in the states as they did with the old Type-R

Yeah, the FORD ESCORT (!) is a V6 sedan with leather interior in Germany. It blew my mind. I was expecting the POS we see here. My jaw dropped to the ground. We get ripped here. And I drove a little Volvo sports sedan, about like a jetta from VW.... Man, that thing flew on the autobahn, I got it up to 230 Kph! Wooohoooo!! And it HANDLED. STOCK!
i dont think youll be buying any japanese cars with that reasoning
damn it someone already said something similar to this.. disregard.. damn google ad in the middle of the frickin page made me think i was at the bottom.. wtf

The Octane level in gas in Japan is higher than it is in North America. The Type R engines don't run as well, or make as much horsepower here. Read a magazine article where they dropped an Integra Type R engine in a RSX and they figured out the lower octane gas was what was causing them to get less horsepower. Honda would have to re-engineer those engines to maximize there potential with our lower octane gas. Maybe it isn't worth the cost of doing so to sell a few thousand Type R cars here.
Who started this thread anyways? Man this dude is getting ripped haha. Why don't you just get the hook up and import a GT-R or Type R or for that fact, any car you can think of, cuz they are all better in Europe and Asia. haha
P.S Be sure and get the tracking number. I know I'd want it. haha JK

dude think about it. if i was one of the guys "hating me" and not sending good cars overseas, its not because they dont want to. of course every company is money hungry and want to have more choices than the next, for example if honda made 100 different cars and BMW made 1 or 2..who would make more?? its not the fact they dont want to send it, its just htey cant
