Lets get this ball rolling.
Athiest!
Though I have no problem w/ people of other faiths/beliefs... long as they don't try to convert me.

I never liked religion.
I realized the oppressivness of religion at a young age..especially when the 10 commandments are nearly all saying you cannot do this or cannot do that etc. Please.
Now that I'm older I see that religion is used in order to profit, oppress, and murder. Meanwhile they preach their hipocracy to people and hope for more suckers to join their religion.
Ever notice that people who had a lifetime filled with drugs and hardships suddenly find Jesus? Then all of a sudden they think their life is better but it is just as shity?
Until someone can convince me that God exists, or that a certain religion is worthwhile to follow I will not worship any god.
How many of you who in 4th grade celebrated missions because they are so great? Do you realize now that the purpose of missions was to enslave human beings in order to profit and gain more control over a territory, all in the name of God and the spread of christianity? So in affect people celebrate enslavement and oppression, the very thing they despise? Nope. The closest thing I will get to Jesus is a mexican with an accent over the U.
I hate people who feel the need to preach to me, and try to convert me...so sick of it.

I go to a Christian church and I pretty much grew around it. I used to go every sunday untill a year ago. I still go most sundays but I have never claimed to be a Christian. I have my doubts on religion too and in no way do i live a "Christian lifestyle". BUT i think a church is a great place to grow up. It teaches good morals and it can only improve someone, not hurt. like that one verse from the black eyed peas song.. spread love not animosity... I think church does just that, it spreads love. I think church keeps the world in check. without it, i think the world would be alot crazier than it is now.
I'll probably make my kids go to church. I wouldnt necessarily make them believe in the teachings cause thats up to them but i do want to to be around good influences

As with everything in this world, YES there are hypocrites. They are the ones who give the real Christians/Catholics/Budhist/etc... a bad name. So many people out in the world claim to be a Christian but if you look at their lifestyle, they're really not. Just because you go to a church doesnt give you the right to call yourself a Christian. Or some are just mis-informed. Thats how cults are started. Messages are taken the wrong way and they think they're doing a good deed by killing all non-believers.
Happiness is all relative, is it not? Just because someone doesnt live in a 5million dollar home and ferrari doesnt mean that they're not happy. Most of the time religion teaches that you can be happy even when you dont have much. They lived a life where they were dependant on a drug and now they arent, you dont think that their life has improved?
Well there really is no proof as with there is no actual proof with evolution. But thats why they are all just beliefs...

Most of my family is budist but I never really followed up on it or actively took part in it.
I agree with a lot of stuff VNlilMAN said. I know this "kid" who goes to church all the time and calls himself a christian but he steals. Not only that but he flaunts it around as if it were an achievement. I think over half the stuff on his car, he stole. Not to mention the car parts he sold or gave away were obtained through a "five finger discount"

There is a chokablock full of evidence to support evolution over creationism. Though -- both are theories.
Planetary motion suggests that all objects in space are moving outwards from a central point, and continue to do so due to Newton's law. Red shift.. etc.
Besides, why believe in something you can't see? And don't use the air/oxygen cliche... it is well documented that if human beings are starved of oxygen -- they die.
As George Carlin says in one of his bits...
"I chose to worship the sun. Unlike some other gods I could mention, I can actually see the sun. I'm kinda big on that, if I can see something... I dunno.. kinda helps the credibility along"
We can't rule out either side, but we can more easily choose to believe in nothing than to believe in something. Takes a lot more credibility/evidence to choose the latter.
Its a celebration bitches!

seeing is believe and yes we can see the sun but so what that doesnt prove evolution is true. we cant see gravity but we know it still exists dont we? to think that something as complicated as a human being started out of one single molecule/atom or whatever is absurd. Evolution is based on mutation is it not? well you cant create something out of nothing. Mutation is about downgrading, not upgrading.. it can lose information but it cant gain. If evolution were true, we would see a gradual morph rather than something more concrete. an ape cant magically turn into human in 1 day. we should have this smooth transition of an ape turning into a man where we shouldnt even be able to categorize the two since they are so similar to both kinds.

eh your post reminded me...
My view on religion is: believe what you want to believe in, as long as it makes you happy. Hell i wouldnt be suprised if EVERYONE was wrong about it. Does that mean we lived our lives for nothing just because we believed in the wrong thing? NO just as long as what you believed in made you happy. I guess what i mean is.. ignorance is bliss.... Take santa claus for example. as kids we grew up believing in that some guy came down our chimney's and left presents for us. Even though we were wrong, did believing in him hurt us in anyway? NO it only made us enjoy life a little more. So what if we believe in a god that doesnt exist. as long as we find comfort in it to enjoy life a little better is all the reason we need to believe in him.

Until someone can convince me that God exists, or that a certain religion is worthwhile to follow I will not worship any god.
If someone can prove to me that God does not exist, then we can go from there.
And as for "it's either creation or evolution"... is it that impossible to believe that something that was created can evolve? God is pretty smart, guys... He created a self-mainting universe; hence all our laws of physics, etc. working together.
P.S.-- I'm Christian, and I completely respect others, no matter what their religion; I'm not trying to put anyone down, and I apologize if I come off that way.

There are good points for all religions. But for me not having one is what makes me happy. My g/f is lutheran I got no problem with that. Excpet I sometimes make religious jokes that are in poor taste but still funny, she doesn't appreciate them Thats about our only issue with religion.

I don't practice any specific religion, but I try to study all of them if possible....I'm currently into Dark Neo-Paganism, just another one of those things I decided to read about...once I learn everything I can on this, I'll probably go back to Buddhism.

i believe in Christ... i may not always live as a model Christian but like Jesus once said "let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone"... religious people aren't perfect... humans are flawed like crazy... i'll be the first to admit it... i'm not perfect...
