Angry CV boot leaking, bad CV joint already?

Hi guys, i changed my suspension around last night, and today i noticed that my CV boot has a tear in it. It is leaking lube, on my rims. I only drove my car maybe 20 miles today before i noticed. Do u think that driving it today would have wrecked my CV Joint? Everything seemed fine when i was driving it? How hard and how much money would it cost to replace?

PS. Sorry for yet another CV post but i searched through like 15 pages of CV problems and could not find the answer im looking for.

Sounds like you were the one who caused the problem. But unless you have the tools and knowledge, take it to a repair shop.

If you've got the shop manual for the car, some tools and some patience, you can replace the boot or the axle yourself.

I'd replace the axle, don't want the CV going bad down the road. If your stuck for cash, though, replace the boot itself, just make sure to clean the joint well and repack properly with grease. It still has had it's life shortened. Just about any mechanic will say replace the whole axle...

If you really wanted to get crafty, you could get out a d-cam and make a DIY for axle work, I can see that as being pretty beneficial...

Good luck and keep us posted.
