i've been hunting for better ways to hook up my ipod to my car. like most of you, i have a headphone jack to rca wire and run it into my cd player's aux in. but it doesnt give me controls of the ipod it self via the cd player

well, i cam across a few solutions, and figure i'll let everyone know

alpine cd player
for those of you who have ai-net on your alphine cd player, alpine is releasing an alpine ipod interface model kca-420i. it gives direct control to the ipod and charges it too

people with cd changer connectors or factory radios
the neo ion will plus directly into the cd changer and it seems that it will give control to the ipod and also charge it

Personally, I don't see the point. All you can do is change tracks (forward/backward). If you want to select another album, you still need to go look at/use the iPod. What I want is some system where I can dock my mp3 player and then use a touch screen to select what album I want to play.

they give you sound quality of a radio, which is crap compare to a cd

my friend brought along his modulator for a trip we took in my mom's car with no cassett player or rca, everytime we drove by a semi, the radio went static

I'm wondering if older Alpine decks will benefit from the new AI-Net interface. I'm using my iPOD with a CDA-9811

What about using the Aux. in ? This aux. port is not the headphone jack style but RCA type connection.

Some decks have this feature others do not.
