Using laptop to monitor RPM's, speed etc.

Is it possible to use a laptop to monitor our cars RPM, speed, and such?

Are there programs/wire schematics out there to enable us to do this?

Thanks

You might be able to use some kind of third party performance computer with an output for this purpose. I know there is one company out there that has a complete engine management system, I believe it is made by HKS but I'm not sure.
