crazy TURBO setup but i think its the SHITTT
take a look at this web site. i saw that the turbo was mounted outside the engine bay and that it took 75% less mdification and looks totally easy to install. im thinking of doing this and making my own turbo kit. is this a great setup (i think this is the ****) or am i wrong. make sure u check out the video on how it works and damn u can kiss all that crap about spending over 2 grand to do a turbo setup and probably make ur own with a little less then a thousand dollars. im starting my own as of today and srt4 front mount intercoolers r going for like 15o bucks right now so its working out pretty good. hope i help yall in a way cause i sure love the idea. turbocharged civic here i come...ppppssssttttttttt.......................oh yeah its www.ststurbo.com

well.. if the turbo spools up like 500-1000 rpms sooner than your regular turbos than i can see how it makes up for the lag... did any of you guys try reading the faqs??...but i just emailed them to see about distributing and trying out there products.. hopefully we will see what they say

um ya your gonna loose pressure and have quite a bit of lag with all that piping. just go with a normal turbo for the 7thgen. it isnt too hard.
the only thing it would be good for is a sleeper. you can look under the engine and see absolutly nothing then you just hear a turbo spoolin up out of no where and get owned
i still wouldnt get it though. i would go with a conventional kit.

That wouldn't work on our car unless you puched a hole in your floor to fit it. My 3" exhaust is barely off the ground, how is a turbo gonna clear? -EDIT... If you got a short muffler or made a bend to put it on the other side, I guess you could fit it behind the gas tank, but man the response would be horrible.
I'd also HATE to have to worry about bottoming out my TURBO. That's so much more to replace than an exhaust. Also, no FMIC there, some major lag as well... To me, if performance is your intention, go into the category "Performance Enthusiast" and do it right.
I say that catagor because on the web site they say how traditional turbo systems are limited to performance enthusiasts. Isn't that the idea?

As for Dezod's kit... I'm in the process of TRYING (hint hint, if anyone wants my current one) to get rid of my current turbo kit. It would come with everything you need to be boosted for 2550 shipped. I can buy materials with Dezod for a second kit until I have some money from this one.
Once that's done, You bet I'll be testing the hell out of it. Going to some heavy race courses through-out the east coast. We have a Dezod Development team that I'm leading to prove the best potential of a D17 motor...

It's not just the motor.... Sorry I should have been more specific. The internals are being worked on anway regardless... But we been spending time with electronics tuning, A LOT of suspension tuning, and soon to be onto the heavier brake mods...
The car will accelerate, handle, and brake very well. Well enough to run with some very fast cars out there. And the was the Dezod kit is setup, it'll be able to withstand a hell of a beating day in and day out. Reliability is a huge priority on the kit and I aim to find the break out point. But yeah the pistons and rods and whatnot will be addressed soon, for now, it's more chassis stuff.

(KEEPING ON TOPIC) This idea is nothing new, it's been there for quite a few years now...... The basic idea works I guess, but there are a fair amount of limitations that make it not work for ALOT of people........ Hey, at least they are original.........

Another thing I just realized after looking at that site again... The intake is mounted under the car as well, what if it's raining out? How long is that air filter going to last?

1---did you see the camaro and trucks? NOT LOWERED
2---can be easy stolen, two nuts holding it as a catback
3---ummm, filter in the rear? and what if it rains? it will be sucking up water like crazy, and dust? oh man!!! = yup boom engine
4---it's the same price, a little cool idea, but still not as good as the regular turbo...
5---doesn't look cool at all! not like the good ol' turbo in engine compartment with FMI... and the BOV!
6---they are made for trucks and not lowered vehicles... and for RACE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT DAILY DRIVEN!!!
sorry If some problems have been pointed out already before my post, I just finished reading the whole posts... but my opinion stays...
IMO

man I have to get familiarized with turbo first, that's why I bought a complete kit... when I know a bit more about it... an maybe I get more hook ups
then I would build my own set up
let me know how it goes bro! I'm gonna need all the info I could get on custom turbo set up!

Not all that long ago you didn't see Honda on SF turbo applications.
" the Exhaust temps are not as hot near the muffler as they are in the exhuast manifold either. "
They addressed that issue in the FAQ's as well.
