Okay, so coming home tonight on Alicia from the freeway, I was constantly being surrounded by intimidating cars. It seemed that each car tag-teammed with the next, starting with a Cobra GT. Then a WRX wagon, and finally, the convertible GT Mustang.
First off, it was a convertible, had a pretty bumpin' sound system, yet a not-so-pretty girl in the passenger's seat. And I don't know if he understood how to drive manual very well.
Anyways, after an intimidating mile and a half, we end up side by side at the front of a red light. Little girl passenger [his g/f] looks over at me and smiles; I can't help but laugh to myself thinking, "I'm gonna get owned... but, it's all about smiles per mile, right?"
Light goes from red to green, and we start off pretty fast; no launch though. I keep picking up then shift kinda hard into second, but he just lets go of the gas. So I, thinking that he's not gonna go for it, go back to conservative shifting [I shifted into 3rd at about 57 mph]. Well, GT boy decided that he wants to show me up now [finally] and lets loose. That thing pulled pretty quickly, but had I been still in 2nd, I think I could've held him off a little bit more.Plus, he takes about 1 full second to shift. By the time I reached the good part of my powerband, he was back into cruise mode. So I stopped, too.
I dunno... don't we have some kind of weight advantage over convertible GTs? I know I woulda gotten raped in the end, but we never reached top gears.

comparing a mustang gt's speed to a 7thgen civic... mustang wins in all ways. top speed, accel. power, etc.. (stock form that is)
they may be heavy, but still own us in the "speed" catergory.

Yeah a 99+ convertible mustang is 260hp and like 3300-3400lbs probably. still driven right a mid 14 second car. He could easily win if he wanted while still mis shifting once or twice. . (im assuming you have a civic ex) with an Si he could probably mis shift once and still win.
Thats so funny, i raced a Mustang gt conv. on the way home the other night too. But at the light we really did take off. I dropped it pretty hard (all i have is an aem cai) and he absolutly smoked me. There was never any chance

heavier cars = more 'damage' in a collision = not safe for other drivers
if people want to prevent racing and all that fun stuff, first step is to stop selling fast cars to the people.

2003-2004 Cobra = Supercharged V8
You must have quite a SRT-4 to be able to "spank" Cobra's.
If it indeed was a stick, our civic have a clear advantage in shifting more quickly. If anyone has worked a Mustang T-5 shifter then you know what i'm talking about. Basically you need a map to find the next gear
, that's how long the throws are.

wow this guy really knows his cars (10 cylinder Cobra??) most bolt on cobras would destroy any SRT4

AND STILL DOESNT GIVE ANY ADVANTAGE TO A CIVIC
was a funny post to read though
I raced a GT with 240whp he said
and i pulled on him in 2nd and then he beat me at 3rd
he later told me, only reason you got the jump on me was cause you put it in 2nd
you know your not supposed to do that.
What a retard, i dont have a mustang its meant to be driven that way not like some cheap *** mustang

I mean, really, you guys think that for some reason all domestics suck just because you happened to run into a couple of guys who both are morons and crappy drivers? A 240whp GT runs mid-high 13's with good driver and even a stock Cobra should run in the 12's with a good driver. Your arguments are totally illogical...
So, 1 Supra beats 1 Cobra and that means that ALL DOMESTICS SUCK!!!! By that logic, if my car beats a civic, all imports suck. Doesn't make sense.

i saw to mustang gt's "stock i assume" run each other at the 1/8 track and one ran 10.2 and the other 10.4. they did not miss any gears and they both had good take offs they did not spin alot like i do. with that said look at my sig. and also one time i stayed dead evan with a gt through first but he stoped after that because he g/f started yelling at him.
