Any thoughts...
on these speakers?
Kenwood Excelon KFC-XR61P
6-1/2" Component Speaker System
They run a lower RMS, which allows them to produce great sound just off the headunit. It has gotten some pretty good reviews. I want to mate these with my Nakamichi h/u. Any ideas or opinions on these speakers? Feel free to post other brands that you prefer and a reason why. I dont plan on running a multi-channel amp, but would consider it if need be.

I probably have used just as much kenwood stuff as anyone on here...and I wouldn't run those speakers...listen to them at a store and see if they sound natural to you
If I were you, I don't know if I would consider getting components if you don't want to run an amplifier to them. I would look at more coax speakers.. Components are very very power hungry and you just won't get the full performane out of them if you don't run an amp. IMO at least
Components use active crossovers and most coaxials don't, this will soak up some power. Also many components will have a lower sensitivity, and that means less volume off a given amount of power.
All that said your most likely going for the components because they are a "better" speaker. In the right conditions, they will likely sound better. But, in all honesty even lowly coaxials can sound realy sweet, especially on an amp. In reality components are only better because they are engineered to be better. Usually they are made w/ better materials, can handle more power, etc .... But then it requires an amp to get that better sound out.
I'd take amplified coaxials over unamplified components any day. An amplifier does wonders for speakers, it makes a night and day difference in sound. IMO I'd never get car speakers w/o an amp. If you don't plan on getting an amp, go w/ coaxials. If you will get an amp, get an amp and coaxials. You only need components if you want to go all out (and an amp).

IMO Kenwood is no good, but it's up to you to judge for yourself if you like them or not. You can't really rely on others opinions for speakers, everybody has their own ears and preferences.
