First time to track with new car
Last night I decided to take my new Civic VP auto to the track to see how it would do. It actually was slower than I expected, but I believe it is all in the launch. I am used to launching manuals, and VW's at that, so the automatic launch is new to me.
Here is my best slip broken down:
r/t: .352 (best of night .124)
60': 2.653 (best of night 2.616)
330: 7.647 (best of night 7.617)
1/8: 11.763
mph: 60.31
1000: 15.267
1/4: 18.263
mph: 74.28
Other runs were as follows:
18.356 @ 74.22
18.459 @ 73.76
18.343 @ 73.61
18.395 @ 73.93
At least it is a pretty consistent bracket racing car. These runs were also done with full interior/spare and 7/8 of a tank. Car weighed 2712 lbs with me in it.

If you have a reaction time of less than .5 that mean you started before the green light. That does not mean your awesome.
A .8 is not that good. Infact it sucks.
You want to be in the 5s. 6s are not bad which means you can improve.
You need to get a better 60 ft time. 2.6 sucks. Work on your launchs. Thats the key. If you could pull off a 2.2 60 ft time you will hit low 17s to high 16s.
Also, how many miles are on your 04? The motor might not be broken in all the way. Next time you go to the track clean out your car. Get all the garbage out, take out the spare tire and jack, and on have about a 1/4 tank of gas.

uh ya. when i go to the track i get usually .550 to .600 and that still isnt that good. anyone in any car can get a good reaction time. it has absolutly nothing at all to do with if you have a fast car or not.

First off, I run at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. It is a .500 tree, but they have changed the printouts to start with the green light meaning .000 is a perfect r/t and negative time is a redlight. I have pulled a perfect r/t in the past when I had my Jetta.
The real point of my post was to maybe get some help with figuring out how to launch the damn automatic.
