2 compressors???

Ok I'm running one Viair 380 compressor that draws a max of 16 amps and i've got one 5 gal tank. This doesn't last very long hittin switches so I'm wanting to add another compressor and tank. Will 2 compressors kill my battery or altenator. My car hasn't been starting as well as it use to and I'm afraid the battery may already be going. Will a yellow top be worth the extra money if I add another compressor. Oh and is anyone else running 2 compressors and how is it on the car??

If I were you, I would go with a red top, or mod your battery tray and put in an SUV battery. The yellow top is for running electronics with the car off.

or you could add another battery for the compressors and leave the other one as the starting battery.

Ok I got up this morning and jumped in my car to head to work and the battery was completely dead. Ugh had to catch a ride. Now what should I do? Is a red top any cheaper than a yellow top?

Not by much, maybe $10. If I were you I would mod the battery tray to fit a larger battery. Then you can get a group 61 or something for like $60 at autozone that has twice the capacity of a redtop/yellowto pdesigned for our cars.

I went to advanced auto parts and placed an order for a yellow top. They said it would be here first thing in the morning so maybe I won't have to push my car off again. It woulda really sucked if I had an automatic... just another reason everyone needs a stick. I would get a bigger tank but my one compressor takes long enough to fill the tank i have as it is. Maybe after this battery I can try another tank and compressor. Hope that yellow top works better. Oh yeah I also had my altenator checked out while I was there. They said it was fine

what kinda duty cycle does your compressor have?
maybe you need to upgrade both instead of just getting more of the same stuff tht isnt working out for you

Its 100% duty and I think its the only one that is rated at 200 psi. My pressure switch cuts off at 175 and it has helped to have the extra psi for more play but it does take longer to get that many more pounds in.

ARG!!!!! I went back to advanced to pick up the other battery and I got there and they said there was a mixup. There were two batteries there and one was a 51 and the other a 51R and they were the exact same ONE. They told me the labels must have been mixed up so they placed an order for another one. 3rd time the charm??
