I would not buy Kenwood anymore after seeing their new products. I had one in my vic before the design just got crazy looking, and it was decent. They're just not made the same anymore. I would get the pioneer for sure. Is it the one with the blue lighting? Get that one
Alpine, I have been through 3 kenwoods, CD always gets stuck, it overheats. I had a few pioneers also in the past and the buttons always wore out. I have never heard anything bad about alpine, so I would go with that.
The alpine is where it's at. The screen has a MUCH MUCH higher resolution than anything else out there. More inputs/outputs, independant rear monitor control (left and right separately), higher end audio processing... way more bad ***.

thanx for all your comments..... i was leaning towards the pioneer b/c it has navagation as well as vehicle specs and it has more functions.... but i was also leaning towards the Alpine b/c of it's higher resolution and better sound quality... but then again, it has no navagation... kenwood i just threw in as another one that i would look into buying... but it was really between the pioneer and the alpine.... and yes, i'll let you know when/if the 8443 goes on sale.... i bought it for $420.... so throw me some offers and i'll think about it, still got the box and everything.

Pioneer or Alpine
I am not sure about the SQ on the Pioneer, but it DEFINITELY has the better feature set of the 2, it is a VERY impressive unit..
The Alpine is also very impressive, and they are known for their outstanding SQ with their decks, so I say you are a happy customer either way.

It's a tough choice between the two - the features on the Pioneer seems to be impressive. The Alpine nice as well. If your choice was based on SQ I would probably go with the Alpine. I can't vouch to much for Pioneer beside the fact that it looks good in writing and pictures. I've heard some of the Alpine units and they do sound very good! Since you're coming from an 8443 - idk - what's more important to you?

I would personally go with the AVIC-N1. I couldn't see the SQ being so different that it would make me give up all those features, it would have to sound so bad that it would make the deck a piece of junk anyway what it is not.
My vote is set on the AVIC-N1 now

Well if you can find a shop that carries both Pioneer and Alpine, see if they will let you have a try at both in your car to see which you like better.
I don't gaurantee it, but for the money you are going to spend, they should bend over pretty good to help you out..

ok the pioneer and alpine are both really good products. as a fan of pioneer i would say go with them but truthfully their specs are about the same that you won't see much of a difference with features just pic the one with a better built in EQ or if their the same do the one you think looks nicer but you will love either one!

Ok...... i made up my mind and i didnt go with any of the ones stated above that i was looking at (that's the way it usually goes... lol) ..... i went with the Alpine IVA-D300... with the new pulse touch tech. ... it's awesome and VERY good sq just like my eclipse, maybe even a lil better!..... the screen is unbelievably bright and clear for a touch screen.... i'm very happy with my choice and would def. recommend this unit to anyone that is looking into purchasing one.
