do not go into fourth gear, ride out 3rd. See what happens. I run 16.3 @ 84 i do not get our of third gear. You might be able to run lower 16's.

tell me more info when you go is it hott, how do you shift, what mods do you have? Also if you have 17+ rims up from is a good reason why. Your Lx should beable to stock 5spd 16.8 in the 1/4 mile atleast.

well, i dont have my timeslips right infront of me, but i can give you an idea of how it went.

ive only gone to the track 2, maybe 3 times with some at night when it is around 60-65ish degrees, and some during the day around 80 degrees and all averages around a 17.2-17.5 1/4 mile

mods include: cold air intake, custom 2.25" cat-back exhaust with n1 muffler, revo short shifter, and ACT performance clutch.

my launches arent the best thing though, first time i went i launched as high as i could cause i didnt know any better. more recently i launched around 2.5-3k RPM, but i still got a little wheel hop and such. i also dropped the tire pressure. i think my problem here is i gun it from the start and i gotta learn to ease it into first and then start workin the gears

60' time isnt too impressive either. it didnt go down at all with the new clutch which i expected it to do alot. it was around 2.2-2.4 if my memory serves me correct.

shifting, i usually do that around 6500-6800 RPM and it really doesnt make a difference, i shift pretty quick too and i usually try to not chirp 2nd.

and like i said trap speed is around 77-78 mph most of the time and i have yet to break 17.2 which sucks *******.

as soon as i get my rotas and yokohama tires if i do no beat 17 sec at this track, im gonna start goign to other tracks cause the altitude at this one or track condition must not be good enough, i dont know. this just really annoys me.

when i went i redlined my car hard as **** and it seems faster so shift like 200-300 in the red and try to chirp 2nd because it doesnt really make a difference if u do or u dont because when i used to not i would run 17's but now im in low 16s, i was thinkikn of gettin a new clutch does it make a difference on ur car?

I find myself riding out 4th towards the redline hehe...

Yeah listen to Lazydog, on both my civic when it was NA, and my old 95 eclipse... Riding out 3rd produced the best times, even though the traps were very close.

Ive run a 16.9 with a 1.047 reaction time and shifting into 4th gear. This is a 5spd with an Apexi N1 and an AEM cai. I know i could run a 16.4 easy with a good reaction and riding out third gear. It can be done.

reaction time has nothing to do with your ET at all. the clock starts once you roll out of the beams, not when the light goes green.

He's correct.

Also, about the shift points... It's a law of averages (best way I can describe it). How much top end are you willing to sacrafice in order to gain in the next gear? For example, you spend all the time waiting to redline just so you can have more power as soon as you shift, does the next gear make up for the amount of power you just lost? You need to find different shift points in different gears. I find that 4 is very close to 3 on my EX. Keep in mind I'm turbo'd so I hit fourth every run... Shifting out of 3rd into 4th at about 6600 is what is usually do. My car has gobs of torque as soon as I get into 4th and the speedo climbs from there...

how could u miss fourth. the only gear i can recall missing was third. but i think u should run out 3rd. that last shift could cost u some tenths.

My best time is 16.3 @ 84.6 with STOCK firestones. The only mods i have is AEM CAI and HKS axel back. I raced in high humidity and 75 degree weather also. My best on 17" rims was 16.8 so i can tell you from experience that they do not help at all no matter how sticky of a tire you got.

My bad about the reaction times guys. I dont know what i was thinking. Anyways that was also on 17s so maybe ill try getting rid of those and pulling the ol firestones out of the basement for my next 1/4 mile run.
