Intake owners

okay i finally decided I'm going new with an intake(at least for now)

but my question to everyone(mainly canadians) is where did you get your intake(where did you order it from, what site or whatever).
what extra costs am i gonna pay for, and around how much did you spend?

i still have not made up my mind damn it, INJEN, AEM, K&N, short ram or cold air, someone please help me, i know there pretty much all the same and i know this has been covered before but i cant make up my mind

thanks

i have the injen SRI and its nice but Im not sure about performance gains. I got it from Speedtech in Scarborogh and they installed it for me too. I think I paid $700 for that and plus my H&R springs installed too.

I have the Injen RD CAI. Not bad for sound, if it does something for performance, you'd have me fooled. But it SOUNDS great, and I take comfort knowing the filter is actually semi protected behind the bumper unlike the AEM and generic CAI's.

I think te best 2 are the INJEN CAI, or the FIPK , i personally have an AEM Short ram, sound nice but almost useless for performance.

the INJEN cia goes Down under the enjine deep, sucking in colder air, i havent heard anything bad from anyone with an Injen CAI

get any of them, their all a precursor to something else... the CAI doesnt do anything other than make more noise but it a necessity when you start adding the rest of the breathing system to the car... its just a toob painted a funky color, the only difference is that some companies have put some effort into bending it a certain way to both fit nicely and sound better

I have the FIPK and I do feel some gain in the upper RPMs...pretty sure it's not just psychological cuz I could chirp 2nd gear a lot easier after I installed it.

I ordered straight off the K&N website (forget the URL) for $200 USD; after everything I paid close to $400 CDN. Install was super-easy...takes 30 min max...

I've had mine on over 1.5 years now, no problems in the two winters I've had it on. I clean it twice a year.

Just wonderin...since youd idnt mention it..

what transmission do you have for your car? auto or manual?

personally I am a generic product type of person when it comes too intakes..too me an intake is an intake...

but if its name brand you are after...I like the Injen Intakes myself...

injen isn't worth the money. the quality isn't that great.
aem quality is alot better IMO.
if u ever come by the shop i will show you what happened to my injen filter. (injen is made in taiwan)

i would go with aem or k&n for quality
AEM filter is a K&N filter.

if u have money....i would go with an apexi filter.

the most inexpensive setup with almost the same effect is buying a generic pipe and get a K&N filter.

hey nitehawk... where is Speedtech? is that on progress ave.? Think i heard of it someplae before.... I was thinking about lowering but im too chicken to do the suspension components myself.

I'd go fipk as for intake since there have been many happy people on the forums with them. There is a slight slight gain in the upper rpms like most other intakes but unlike them there is virtually no lower power loss (according to users).

I'm happiest with the stock intake over AEM and K&N.
