Dawww, I just got spanked :P SE-R Spec V
Coming home from work at Robinson's May there is this stop light when you exit off of the freeway. After the light is about 1/8 of a mile before there are other ramps leading to areas of the county, but you you keep going its about 1/2 a mile long. Anyway, I pulled up next to a Sentra SE-R Spec-V (the car I really wanted, but instead I ended up with a Civic) and all I could see was that maybe he had an exhaust. I tried to look back at the guy to see if he was looking over so we could race for fun, but he didn't look. The light turned green and I was ready to go, but we didn't launch. Then I heard his engine and I punched it. 1st gear I was with him, but when I switched to 2nd he was still pulling! Maybe he was in 2nd already since the SE-R's redline is at like 5800rpm or something. After 2nd he was just gone, however it was a fun race.
One of the reasons I KNOW that I got beat so hard was b/c of my tires and steelies. One of my doughnuts is like as heavy or maybe even heavier than one of my rims with tire. Right now I have 195/65/15 on my steelies, thats like taller and fatter than OEM size. I didn't even chirp 2nd gear, when if I had my 17" Tenzo R Passion 5's (17.9 lbs w/o tire) and 205/40/17 I would have chirped so easily. If I had my rims he still would have beat me, but not nearly as bad! Anyway, thanks for reading. Have a nice night.

i almost traded in my civic for a yellow '03 spec V.... the wife hates the style of it, though. i could care less, it looks pretty decent to me. handles decent, drives great... <sigh>...

My friend just got a Spec-V like 3 days ago (He had to get RED cuz it was the only one left) He paid 15,500 for it (his uncle works at Nissan Dealer in Chicago) pretty good price eh?
When I first saw it, I was like..dayum that car's ugly as FoC. But then he let me drove it , oh dang.. It was pretty quick and handled real well.
But I still like my Civic better tho...

i went to the races this past weekend and rode in a Spec V with exhaust and intake.. that thing was pretty quick. My wife wants one now, we r gonna c in a bout 2 months and problably buy one, **** better than her focus.

I think the newer ones are pretty ugly, with that new huge Nissan emblem and the honeycomb style front thingy? Yeah... And I've read that Nissan made a mistake by putting a 6 gear tranny in there b/c I wasn't necessary. The body style is rather out-dated, but hey I love Nissans! I hated Hondas, that is until I got my Civic that I slowly learned to love :P
Oh yeah, now that I thought about it a little bit more I think he had an Intake too. Unless the Spec-V's engine rumbles at a deep low pitch, he surely had an intake. Now I don't feel as bad since my car is stock... Well, short shifter, K&N Drop in filter, and HKS Hiper rear section... Whoopdedoo, so much hp... haha

I have a spec v, and imports will never race me.. old dudes in cadillacs or pickup trucks are all over me like flies on rice.
While I hate the way the sentra looks from the back, i love the 2002-2003 front fascia and the wheels. Those 17"s look perfect on that car. Makes me wonder why sentra owners buy aftermarket wheels... just makes their car look worse 9 times out of 10.
I test drove the 02 civic SI before buying the sentra.. both were same price except the civic was USED and a year older. The civic really impressed me, even though I thought it was ugly ( I think some rota's would fix that) I test drove the spec v and the low end power was amazing. For a moment I thought I was back in my old 5.0 mustang. Top end leaves a lot to be desired.. feels like power goes down as RPMS' go up even though i know its not true. The Spec V has such a flat power band that you never feel like your going faster and faster. . from 3500rpms on its the same amount of acceleration..
You know in your civic as the rpms go up it keeps accelerating harder and harder... not in the se-r :-( sucks because it takes a lot of excitement out of it. Anyway when I was all stock i hit a 15.6@89 no power shifts. With my setup I should be in the mid 13's but im a crappy driver so low 14's.@100ish mph
I love the 6 speed for the track, no matter how fast you are going there is always a gear to put you in the sweet spot. For daily driving id wish for a 5-speed. I have to finish the quarter mile in 4th gear, one guy on the sentra board has to shift to 5th before he crosses the traps... kinda sucks for drag racing.

Thats a real drivers race...Very close. Id guess both being stock with equal drivers...id bet on the spec V (its lighter w/better traction). A very few legendary men have gotten the spec v into 14's all stock. Once you start modding the GTi is going to OWN at the drag strip. GTi may trap higher but the spec v probably have a better ET. Its the same with the Mini Cooper S.
A GTi with about $1500 into is like 230hp (at the wheel i think). A full bolt on spec V hits maybe 185whp. (I/H/E/CAMS/BS/TB/S-AFC/etc) (thats more then $1500 too)
I think the Spec V would still beat a GTi in the curves. The Spec V can handle really well although its not as confidence inspiring as a honda. Its qwerky.. but it works. My friends Spec V (modded) Turned a 1.43 lap time at grattan race way (his first time to a track) Thats better then a lot of sport bikes i watched. IM not talking about suzuki GS-500's, ex500's.. no im talking about GSXR-600, R6, R-1, CBR 600/954's No he didnt hit 170mph on the straight away like the ZX-10 but he maintained a lot of speed in the curves to make up for it. The fastest bike i saw was a gsx-r 600 doing 1.25, the ZX-10 was 1.31 (he was an instructor) and the rest where right with the spec v or slower.

nope! i chose to boost the qr...b/c it has so much more potential..other than internals (just rods and pistons)...the qr25de is a much more superior motor...bigger displacement...and more power w/ less boost...but at 10psi ide say im pushing close to the limit...or possibly exceeding....ide say 280 to 300whp range. i havent dyno tuned yet!

Northern Ninja your right it doesn't take too much effot to make the 1.8T more potent.
I know a guy who upgraded his ECU on a GTI 1.8T he was getting something like 225 hp. I'm not sure how much boost he was running though.

10lbs of boost on a QR25!?!? are you fricken insane??
5.5 lbs of boost on a qr25 is like 250whp.
I do agree the QR25 is superior to the sr20 in almost everyway. the sr20 has stronger thicker walls and beefer rods/pistons. But aside from that the QR25 is pretty impressive.
At 10lbs of boost You should be making at least 300hp to the wheel, be careful ... no one really knows how much are dinky rods can support. What kind of fuel management are you using? I have a S-AFC II untuned so far.

yeah bro 2nd gear is just insane...absolutely no traction what so ever! and its fun as crap! i also have the safc2...untuned...unfortunately...i got some baseline #'s in and its not lean or anything...its extremely rich...as a matter of fact at wot i dont go above 1250 degrees according to my egt...but 10psi is so far so good...3rd gear is amazing...its like a spec-v with vtec/vvtli and then some...talking about where i can roll into 3rd gear hit full boost and the tires start spinning.

I'm not sure which Magazine I seen this in, but I seen a nissan Micra with a sr20de. Someone mentioned that the sr20de was a boxer engine, your right it does sit really low. The car had a roll cage and all, and rear wheel drive!. The micra is the size of a Echo hatchback.
