Jacking up car.

i jacked up my car yesterday only for it to fall down. I put the jack next to the back left tire where there are two notches about 3 inches apart. Is this the right place.

Make sure your jack is level with the ground.

I have always put blocks under my car when I'm working on it because honestly I don't trust what Honda gave us, what they call a jack. (Now a day almost all compact cars have bad jacks.)

i was usin a hydrolic jack and thas where i put it cus thas the only place i can see that would be it, thers no markins anywhere else except for a notch 3 inches long in the front and back on each side so i guessed that that was it. Anyway to make the jack put its force on a larger area i put a wrench on top of it and i was liftin it up and my tire was almost off of the ground and it just fell completely down.

Wait you put a wrench in between the car and the jack? Is that correct?

Ok... Now I know what you where using; I have one of those too.

DON'T use that one on the side of the car and PLEASE don't put a wrench there, LOL. Try to find a place on the frame under the car right behind the tires. Make sure is part of the frame or a support of the suspension.

yup happened to me too. thank god the car didnt fall on me. i was jacking up the car with the stock jack. the jack began to tip over and the car kinda slided forwarded and fell back on the ground. the weight of the car totally bent my jack. i now cary a small 2 ton "big red" jack in my trunk. it works much better and fits in the same place as the factory jack. only 20 bucks at autozone!

Sounds like you used a bottle jack.
If you plan on working on cars a lot, may I suggest you invest in a floor jack and jackstands.

No, no problem. Like I said just put the jack behind the tire. Look where you put it, you don't want to bend anything. Also It would be a good idea to put jack-stands or at least some blocks or 4x4 under the car just in case.

Here is a picture of behind the front *passenger* wheel well. I'm guessing where that extra stuff is, is where you jack it up

please excuse the dirtyness. I take that during the winter

I'm assuming that too. But the problem is that he has an old hydraulic jack with a support on top of just slightly bigger than a quarter. I suggest putting it under the car behind the wheel where the suspension is. Behind the brakes but to look and try to put it some plce where he won't break anything or bent anything. (like on the frame)

Fvck the Honda jack. We should have a TSB on that. I was jacking up my car one day, on a level driveway, and the base of the jack started to bend. luckily the car wasnt too high off the ground, only the body, not the wheel. But either way, that was some shyt.
