Heat will soften ANY adhesive tape. That's why we use a heatgun to peel the stuff right off. While it may not come off under normal use, it will be much softer when it's hot. Silicone adhesive is good insurance and won't hurt the paint.
Samari is right, though. Proper cleaning is key to getting tape to really stick. I generally use 99% alcohol for prep.

Try letting the adhesive tape cure for a day by not putting any weight on it. Prop up the bumper with something if you have to. I did this when installing my sides and they still haven't slipped.
i've had this problem about 3 times over the hot days. i used 3m double side tape (white one), kragen brand double side tape, and another autozone brand of tape that was black. NONE of these worked.
talked to couple ppl, told me to use construction adhesive... have no idea what that is or what its made out of. but instead i went down to home depot and got sum "super strong, weather resistant" double side tape. used those and its working for the past 3 months now. BUT i had to use goo-gone to make sure every little piece of dirt/gime/stain/etc was off where the tape is stick to.
some reason my drivers side is starting to sag and i think because everytime i get out of the car, my heel of my shoe stomps my oem side skirt a little cuz it pops out just a little. if it starts getting worse, ill think about the silicone adhesive... btw... tell me more about this silicone adhesive
have no idea what this is or what it looks like.

i redid my rear lip this morning. i cleaned the area that would come in contact with the double sided tape with 2+2 gum cutter. that stuff is toxically strong. Now my rear lip is on and seems VERY secure, only real test is for another really hot day to come along.
