Unhappy engine swap h22a > 2001 ex coupe

i am trying to find out if there is any one out there that knows of a place in jacksonville/daytona beach that does engine swaps. i am trying to fit an h22a into my ex coupe. i first of all want to know if it is even possible. second of all how much it is going to cost me. i would also like to know if anybody out there has either done this, has seen it done on a friends car or actually knows how to do this step by step. my last question is this: if i do do this (he he he i said do do) what are some precautionts that i need to make sure of because i know that that is a big engine and can barely fit into an eg civic chassis! thank y'all for y'alls time and i appreciate y'all listening to me ramble!

K20 > H22 .. why would u want to put a old, out of date engine in your car? just go with the K20

yep got to agree k20 is a better way to go. gonna end up being less on labor too. alot of custom fabrication has to be done to get the h22 in that car. I think there is someone doing a b16 in a 2001 ex.

there's only one person doing a b series swap in a 7thgen and its for racing purposes only. His car is NOT going to be driven on the street from what i understand.

The H22 does not drop in. No one has tried it yet to date. YOu will have to take a sledge hammer to your fire wall to make room and I dont' even know if that will work. The H22 is heavier than the K20 and will cause some steering issues. All in honestly you are better off swapping a K-series in your car. It will cost less and its got lots of potental.

Take the K20, bore it out to a 2.2L and you have yourself a K22. H22 is illegal and won't fit.

Good luck. If I were you I'd stick with the K-series.

Yes, the last Prelude series went from 1997-2001. I agree with everyone above, K20 is the way to go.

i agree with every one on here. the h22a will not drop in and the custom work that is going to be required is insane. just stick with the k22.

If you are all about this displacement thing why don't you just get a K24.....

IT's bigger, less labor, cheaper and you could just put a Type S or R head on there for true I-Vtec......

I can't believe I am the first to mention this to him......thought someone would have said it already

first of all let me start off by saying that the drug references that i see every now and then, i.m.o., can go. any ways on to whats really important in life: our cars. i am really curious as to what law says that it is illegal to swap an older engine into a newer car. i do not know the statutes as well as i should, but i cant seem to figure out how, why, and who made this illegal? second, does anybody know of any websites out there specifically for the '99-'00 civic si?

www.clubsi.com

As for why the engines are illegal to swap into a newer car is because generally speaking, older engines won't meet the smog regulations that of the newer car standards.
