Venom 400
Was wondering if anyone has installed a Venom 400 PCM, model v21-160? I am considering one, the only info I have is what the manufacturer says about it. I'd like to know how my 02 lx would respond to it with my AEM CAI and custom fabbed OBX header and exhaust system. Anyone?
Thanks.

all the venom module does is adjust your fuel map to make it more agressive and advance the timing a bit (which is bad if you have a turbo)... its like a "one size fits all" chip... its venom's best guess at how your fuel maps would need to be with very light mods... it works well enough if you don't want to mess with tuning and only have light mods... and there's a nifty on/off switch so that you can turn it off for daily driving, and on for more spirited driving...
but for a more serious tuner, i'd recommend the SAFC over the venom module because the SAFC can be dynotuned and adjusted to your specific car...

I don't like it. Just fools the computer into thinking there's more air and adds more fuel or something. It only hooks into a couple sensors. Get the vafcII or SAFCII.

there are several threads on here about how to hook up the VAFC to our engines allow the VTEC manipulation to work. IMO i would go with the more serious tuning option. SAFC or VAFC
To tune or not to tune

I heard that the long term effects of the 400 arent good. the 400 basically takes an industry wide map and plants that onto ur ecu. its kinda shady.

Basically I took an AEM intake and OBX header and made them better. Collectors (where 4 primary pipes come together to make one pipe) on headers are a BIG deal in the V-8 world, I took the same technology of the best headers for V-8's and applied it to my OBX by cuting off the existing one and I welded on a new and improved collector. The intake I routed into the fender well, where air is the coldest, with a larger than AEM pipe to pull in more air mass and to increase velocity of the air upon entering the AEM piece and engine and put the undisputedly best filter made in the world on the end. AEM makes lightweight underdrive pulleys for the A/C condensor and the alternator, I have them and a lightweight pulley from RVM on the crank, together they free up more 8 hp to the wheels (as told to me by someone else with the same setup on his car that he had dynoed before and after), unorthodox has a set of all three that make 10 to the wheels. AEM also makes adjustable cam gears to advance or retard timing. -2 degrees makes a noticeable differance on our cars, especially after adding a header. All over 7thgencivic.com people talk about the REVO short shifter so I doubt you are asking about that. Overbored throttle body, 55mm is stock, any larger than 58mm and you lose torque unless you are running a turbo. I bored mine to 58 and made a new butterfly (thingy that opens and closes to let air into the engine). It made a noticeable differance. Ground wire kit is in the DIY pages. Hope that answers your question.

Given what you've accomplished so far, seems to me you'd be better off getting the SAFC II and then finding a tuning solution. BTW, where did you buy the apexi dual funnel filter, cam gear and pulleys. Any pics of these mods? Thanks.
