Premium gas is a treat for our cars, right?

I mean, it doesn't do any HARM, correct?

I know regular gas for cars requiring premium gas (i.e. downgrade) causes pinging and stuff from early detonation.... but premium gas in unleaded cars would only cause pain in the wallet, right?

My car is not diesel, and/or I'm not gonna put diesel in an unleaded car

Reason I'm asking is the company's buying my gas today.... FULL SERVICE, PREMIUM GAS HERE I COME!

Quick, someone tell me which premium gas is the BEST.... Shell, Petro, Esso, Sunoco...

I won't be getting a car wash.... Dont want to push it

Dude, grab Sunoco 94. Sunoco is consistently rated the cleanest gas anyway, and while you're at it, grab the 94 stuff. That's what I do whenever I fall in a puddle of money or the woman is payin for my gas. It won't hurt your car at all. You may or may not (most likely not) see improved milage or performance, but don't count on it. If anything, think of it as a little treat, like getting chocolate sauce with that Baskin Robbins.

dude,

just get 87, from Mobil 1....or from cheapest station that you can get.....

using premium in our stock vic is just plain useless, IMO.....consider it a "treat" for your car.....but, not a "good treat" for your wallet...

I ended up with stinkin' SELF SERVE Shell premium (91???) gas, since I wasn't able to find a self-serve downtown.... I drove 300km's today, and it was damned hot... Felt woozy and tired.... ah well..... 28L of the good stuff, for like $25... .... Something like $0.88/L...!!!

ok guys...

the 1.7 sohc is designed for 87 octane gas.
if you run a higher octane gas it doesn't burn as easily...
therefore your just wasting the gas.

people ALWAYS assume more money is better... the higher the rating the more harmful it is...

higher octane level gas leaves the engine cleaner. also, better combustion results in less unburnt fuels

Oops, I was about to mention that. Most places reimburse a set amount per KM (ie. at my work its 30 cents per KM).
