Exclamation Fixed: Can't fit new brake pad! Piston is too far out...

So here I am changing my front brake pads. The piston is TOO far out (because the old pads were 90% worn out)... am i supposed to push in the piston with a vise clamp? What if this is too darn hard? Any easier way to push the piston in so i can fit my brake pads?

Thanks,
ak

edit:
Then take the C-clamp and push the piston back in by clamping the back of the piston cylinder and the face of the OLD inner pad. Once done, remove the inner pad.

What If that doesn't work? I've bled the brakes a little, but it's still damn hard???

irishtemper has a spectacular aura aboutirishtemper has a spectacular aura about
My brakes were worn to the rivits almost had to replace the rotors and i got some new ones but not ceramic, wears down the rotors quicker. I just pushed the piston in with my hands and had no problems,,,,,,,,,,, make sure you take the cap off of the master cylender, no need to bleed them after you do them just don't hit the brake pedal with the cap off

Thanks for the tip. My dad was around and decided to help me out... he used a breaker bar to push the piston all the way in. Man, did it look painful or what...

Anyway, this is the second time that I've replaced the brake pads.

1st time @ 12,000 miles (OEM's down to 1/3)
2nd time @ 55,000 (ProACT worn down to 1mm!!!) + rotor resurfaced

Hopefully these Raybestos Noise Solution will last me at least 40,000 miles. I did not have the rotor resurfaced... I know that I should have, but didn't feel like fighting the No. 3 phillips screw.

I'll probably replace the rotor in the next brake change because the OEM's will probably be heavily warped by then. Thanks to Greg and Boilermaker1 for your DIY's~!

Greatly appreciated...
ak

Breaker bar? WTF? It should of went in with just a simple c-clamp. I would change the calipers fi they were that hard.

if it took a breaker bar to push the piston in be prepared to rebuild/replace the calipers. If the piston went in that hard that means that it most likely will come out the same way... HARD!
