Adding SRS Seats to a non-SRS seats civic..

Got a great deal on 2004 si recaro seats.. They have side airbags. My car did not come with side airbags. What can I do to make them functional?

BTW, searched on the issue and didnt find good info...

You will need the side SRS sensors:

clicky

I dunno if they wire right up to your current SRS unit, so you may even need to buy that. I think then you have to buy cable+harness to run signal from the SRS unit back to the airbags in the seats.

I could be talkin out my a$$ here, but when you start messin with SRS, it's pricy regardless. Keep us posted thogh.

Telly,

Thanks man, that really helped. I compared both 2002 EX w/ and w/o Side SRS and found out that I only need three more components..

A. need 1 - PN# 525675 - $200.00
B. need 2 - PN# 525817 - $97.00

Just have to confirm that with Honda.. Thanks Telly.

Well, I'm glad I helped at least a little. Now that you have your info, I gotta question doing this though. $400 is a little pricey to just have side airbags....

yea.. i know.. but those are the prices on that website. I have an inside-man at Honda Parts dept in Miami.. I need to find out from him if those are the "hookup" prices.. you know what I mean?

The seats bring srs bags.. It would be nice to make them functional.. but if the price is 400, then I think I'll pass until I can get the sensors for a better price.

I hear ya man, having everything working is half the fun, it's not just for looks.
If you know where the sensors are located, try to find a front-end totalled EX with SRS (telltale panels on the seats) or maybe an RSX Type S. As long as the side airbags didn't blow the sensors should be good. As for takin them out....beats the hell outta me. Are they in the pillar? LOL.
