launching ZEX powered Automatic tranny
ive done lots of research and i am planning on getting a zex kit.
I have an automatic tranny. i was wondering about spraying in 1st GEAR. from what i read it seems like people say not to spray in 1st or last gear.. aka 5th.. or 4th for automatics. So im assuming its ONLY safe for me to spray during 2nd and 3rd gear?
is the rule NOT TO spray in 1st gear.. or TO NOT spray in low RPM?? (*2nd and 3rd, gear i wouldnt have to worry about spraying at too low RPM, cuz i will be at WOT and the rpms will stay above 3,000)
so with all that said, IF the rule is to NOT SPRAY under say 3,000 rpm and not in final gear.. (4th for automatics). I could just get a window switch that sprays at 3,500 - 6,000 RPM and not worry about if i should spray in 1st?
So as far as a luanch goes.. i can arm the system and just floor it?? spraying in 1st 2nd and 3rd.. but only at WOT and between 3,000 - 6,000 RPM when its safe?
hope that made sense. LOL

i spray in first all the time, its recomended to not spray below 3,000 rpm's. The key is to have the rpms up and increasing when you spray so it dont backfire and BOOM!

Well I'll be the second to add something useful to this post
.....
The issue that people are referring to when they say you shouldn't spray in first is mainly for two reasons: traction and transmission life...
Traction because you're adding torque so you may end up spinning. When you spin there is a chance of tapping the rev limiter, which means a possible backfire....
Transmission because the most amount of possible band wear happens on the 1-2 shift....
Window switch would be great for the first, a built tranny is for the second.... Then again, there may be people here that spray in 1st and have no issues (i know of other cars that work fine) like mentioned above....

Your tranny should be fine with a 50 shot, I had friends with 50 shots on automatics and there tranny was the last thing they worried about. Worry more about blowing your engine than hurting your tranny.
And I concur with GreenNVicious.. 150 wet shot is the only way to go

well a few people are running turbo automatic 7thgens. These people BOOST in 1st GEAR! in fact they are boosting anytime above like 3,000 RPM. just like how i would be in a bottle fed civic with WOT, and their cars seem to be fine.
Ppl fawk up their auto trannys just from driving them hard all the time....what do you think is gonna happen when you spray....you just cut the auto tranny's life in half...not to meantion i bet your driving it hard right now.
I have seen some crazy turboed automatics, I dont look down upon anything anymore. the second i start to disrepect or look down on something, it usually turns around to suprise me.
i have seen a couple fast autos, and thats why there are companies like level 10, tci and so on becuase people do build them. One thing with an automatic you cant miss a gear, like alot of non-driving ****** out on the road trying to race today.I love the window switch, it is a nice thing to have on a nitrous car.

anyways never shoot in 1st, maybe in 2nd or 3rd and not for more than 15 seconds. shooting in 1st will probly just cause excess peeling and make you look dumb. 50 shot is safe for our cars however you can get 75 shots, but its a little risky. rpm wise, you can use it at around 2500-3000rpm, i would not recommend any lower.
Also if you dont have clutch already you need to upgrade, cause it will eat your stock like crazy.
