Anyone know cell phones well?
I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with foreign CDMA cellphones?
I have a Korean CMDA cell that I want to use here but I'm having trouble finding a place or person who will do the programming and get me an ESN for a decent price.
My only option right now is paying $150 + one week wait to get it working, and they'll probably ship it off to someone else in New York to get it done, like most places.
Anyone know where I can get it done cheaper in SoCal?
Thanks!

I know the process involved with converting Korean phones to work with American companies; I just don't know the exact steps!! =(
Most foreign CDMA cell phones (phones without a Simcard) require 2 things. First is that you need to obtain an ESN thats valid for use with the specific company you want it to work with. The ESN is on the back of all CDMA phones, but the foreign ESN numbers are useless here.
The second thing you need to do is manually unlock the cell phone. This is usually done through a secret menu that you can access if you know how to get into it. The unlock procedure is specific for each different phone.
GSM phones (simcards) just require unlocking and you can use it with any company that uses a Simcard. Some phones you can just manually unlock using codes. Some require it be connected to a PC for access.
If you have a GSM cell phone, press this *#06#. Your IMEI shows up.
Ahhh, I think I wrote a bunch of nonsense.
Thanks for trying VNlilMAN!!
