clicking noise after lowering
Hello pple, yesterday i lowered my civic 2.0'' and everything seemed fine, but earlier on tonight i started to hear and feel clicking when i turned the steering wheel to either direction, and when i decelerate and accelerate. So far i think its the CV joint and the only thing that i can remember that would crap the life out of my CV joints was when we went to the track.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed this. Ill finalyy post pics of my car. I hope its not a CV joint cause those are a fortune! I would appreciate any help.
Thank you ladies and Gentlemen

If you are good with a wrench, don't worry. You can buy a replacement axle for about 69.00 bux, and have this baby installed in short time. I just replaced a CV boot but it requires that the axle be removed and disassembled, washed with soap and water, and then reassembled. The whole job requires a few special tools that can be bought for cheap.
So, are you good with a wrench?
This link will be good reading for getting you started. It doesnt mention anythign about disassembling the CV joint but if you are good at puzzles you will eventually get it. I would be happy to answer any questions received.

Did you index the strut correctly when you installed the springs? Read this:

Whats this crap with CV joints?
Put the damn wrench down.
Like flotsamm said, either you didn't index the struts, or it settled under the weight of the car all night and something is loose. Go back through, retighten everything, check everything again, it just sounds like something that shouldn't be moving is. Most likely the whole strut assembly.... so check the 3 hat bolts, and make sure the strut is indexed properly (you realigned the 2 white marks on the top and bottom perches when you reassembled them).

^^ exactly^^^
First rule of auto repair, replace the cheapest thing first.... and since checking the bolts is Free, then do that first.

Thanks guys, but i already did all those things. I indexed my struts already and tightened everything and i also triple checked them. However this morning i switch back to my factory steelies and the clicking was gone.... I am handy with wrenches and i scrutinze (sp?) everything closely when it comes to the car.
Thanks to everyone that replied, much appreciated.

Anyway, if you read the thread topic its a clicking/popping noise, not a scraping noise ya noobie. RTFM damn.
Also, there is only one bearing location for 2001 thru 2003. The bearing goes between the top of the upper spring isolator and strut mount. There is no bearing on the bottom you freeking llama. Do your research before making an *** out of yourself.

Uh huh. Thats why you posted that the 2001 has a top bearing on top and the 2002 has a bearing ring on bottom. Both the 2001-2003 bearing location is in the same spot.
Now your saying your a Honda tech, but in this post your asking someone to buy a used bearing ring? http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...57#post1962157

let me know if you are willing to sell yours....."
If your a tech it wouldnt of busted in half during the install if you knew WTF you were doing. BTW, its suppose to come apart like that dipshit. The piece on your left hand is the bearing ring. It has ball bearings in it dumbass.

Now why would a Honda tech be looking to buy a used bearing? No one in their right mind buys a used bearing! You should be able to go to your parts dept and buy one at an employee discount. Besides, their only like 15 bucks retail you poor bastard.
Your so full if **** your not even a good liar.

The bearing ring is suppose to separate in two pieces so you can grease the ball bearings.
Damn, please tell me what Honda dealer you work for so I can avoid ever having your used bearing buying *** work on my car. A Honda tech buying used bearings... riioght.

Jeez would you stop pissing and moaning. Damn. if you do this right, that bearing shouldn't even come apart and you shouldn't have to mess with it. I've done 3 spring installs now, I had 1 pop open, the first one we did. All we did is clean the ***** off, regrease them and put them all back in. You know what? The bearing runs smoother now than it did stock. If you hold the upper mount and the spring hat in your hand when the nut comes off, wham, no problem cuz the bearing never opens. Even my JICs pop on occasion... they don't have bearings, its a pillowball. You still sure its the bearing?
Now back to a seemingly obvious question that everyone missed. I take it these are progressive, and there's a dead coil? You got spring isolators on there? I bet the spring coils are rubbing together.
