Action 6 puck clutch on daily driver
I haven't seen any mention whatsoever of Action clutches so I figured I'd post this up.
I was looking into a clutch but I wanted something that was good for a daily driver but still good enough to really grab when I wanted it to so I was considering going with the ACT 6 puck or DH's 6 puck. I didn't want an open face clutch at all.
So I asked a friend of mine with a 12 second (soon to be 10) gsr hatch hybrid. He reccomended using an Action clutch. He told me that it was still a stiff clutch and there was still a slight amount of chatter but you can control it somewhat once you familiarize yourself with the clutch and it was much smoother than an ACT 6 puck. So I went ahead and ordered one for a d16. I got it and put it in and I hated it. It seemed very stiff and chattered and bogged alot during normal driving.
So I decided to go ahead and give it a chance to get used to it. I have had it in for two weeks now and I love it now that I've gotten used to it. There is still minimal chatter during daily driving but I'm still getting used to it a little bit. I figure once I'm really used to it, there'll be almost none.
And let me tell you how it launches, holy ****, it's awesome. Now I can't make a direct comparison to any other clutches because I haven't used any other ones but if you ask, say, Dezod about a 6 puck ACT clutch on a daily driver, he'll tell you not to. With the Action 6 puck, it isn't bad at all.
Anyways, I thought I'd throw that out there for those who were looking for an alternative for a 6 puck on a daily driver.
You can order it from Wired Speed (formerly KS-Motorsports. I ordered the 2MD kit, btw. Kyle is the guy you want to talk to. He's a great guy and is willing to answer your questions. I ordered turbo parts from him over 6 months ago and just ordered the clutch a few weeks ago, not to mention that have really good prices on lots of other parts.
If you want to know more about this clutch, ask away.

You can do it one of 3 different ways. You can pull the motor from the top, you can unbolt the subframe and drop the tranny from underneath (which you have to do to get it out) or you can do what I did and just have someone hold the tranny out of the way. You don't have to pull it out to get the clutch on and off. As far as labor costs, I'd say unless it's machine work or something you CAN'T do yourself, you're getting raped but that's just me.

HMMMmmm...
well i do everything else myself but i dont know much about clutch and transmission work. This is the first time i had to take my car to the shop to get something installed so i really wasn't sure. I cant imagine what other people pay to get stuff done to their car. When i went to pick my car up the were installing so Underbody neons for someone??? I wonder how much they were charging them for that. Either way i think i need to get my degree and then go to Lincoln Tech or UTI on the side and become a Certified Technician cause they must be makin big money.
Dont mean to run up your thread but how much did you pay for you clutch?

It was 366 shipped. The special is $1 shipping for Honda-Tech members but I'm going to talk to Kyle and see if he's willing to hook up 7th gen members as well. Not sure if he knows about this site or not.
No, they are much smoother than the ACT clutches.
