under 2000 bucks ez

any CAI, any full exhaust, new header(not dc) rebuilt head, DH pully, apexi safc/vafc with dyno tune should put a bunch at the fly (round 175)

engine work is only half though you need to put that power down.(which is the main problem for the 7thgen)

with good clutch, light wheels, sticky tires and good susp setup you should be able to beat pretty much any non modded import, aside from high end (supra mr2 rx7 ect) and the cookie cutter shaved head white dudes in there super cool mustang gts hahah.

nitrous is ok but im not a drag racer i want somthing thats not slow as shiz except for 15 seconds every now and then and turbo in these cars realy isnt worth it. for the price of that on top of the car i would sell the thing and get me a 98 240 with 20det and hks upgrade and be putting down 400 hp with other mods hehe

+ install. If you were ever gonna spend that much you'd might as well save a little more and get the A2 and 40 more hp.

In your dreams, maybe. The LX produces 115hp at the flywheel stock. Gaining an extra 60hp - read: 40% percent increase in power - you'd need much more than that.

Time and time again, Dyno results have shown the D17 can only get, at best, ~7-10hp from I/H/E. If you removed your A/C AND Power steering system you might see 7~10hp, tops.

In order to get a 40% increase in hp, you'd be looking at:

1) Nitrous ($600) [~50hp gain, dyno tested]
2) Forced Induction ($2500) [~75-100+hp, dyno tested]
3) A *VERY* well done port and polished head and throttle body + higher compression ratio pistons.($1000+) [???hp - no official, 3rd party testing done on DH products for OUR CARS. Sure, they make awesome power on other applications, but why no tests?]

I would say I/H/E $500-1000 (8-12whp)
Ported head $300-800 (5-25whp)
Velocity stacked TB(or bored) $150 (2-5whp)
Crank pulley $115-200 (2-5whp)
VAFC2 for tuning $300 (5-10whp)
regrinded camshaft $350 (5-10whp)
Cam gear for tuning $150 (works with camshaft)

So with like $2500 grand

Those whp numbers are guesstimates...more of those numbers are like in combination with all of that stuff.

Id say with that stuff you can gain like 45whp

You'd be really close to 160 whp....my guess is more like 150whp

These are just my guesses anyway...dont take them so litterally

Its what im planning on doing

This is the best plan i have seen so far. Couple changes though:
- get a billet TB/ manifold foe like 600 and that will give u around 20 whp cus our stock one is crappy
- if u get the DH racing crank pulley its more like 10 whp
- he should get a SAFC, not a VAFC2, cus he has an lx so no VTEC
- oh and a ported head will prob yield 20 hp or more most likely

but besides that, this is a solid plan

However much a K20A3 (160 HP at the crank) or K20A2 (200 HP at the crank) engine swap costs.

i also don't understand why people always refer to nitrous as the easy way out. If you think about it, you will get better engine life by having nitrous, because the extra stress is only on your engine for that 15 seconds not all day, everyday like it is with turbos.

Project2k2 is on a distinguished road
THis is the way I am going, and my guestimates in numbers.

I/H/E-----Around 10 whp at most
DH Racing Duel Groove Pulley-----5 whp maybe?
DH-Racing 74mm Intake Mani/TB-----15-20 whp....we don't know yet.
DH-Racing Port and Polish for the N/A motor-----20-25 whp
SAFC II Dyno Tuned----I've seen around 8-13whp from those.

SO if u take the lowest numbers you would get......58whp over stock. Just about somewhere around 160whp. Assuming you have an lx/dx.

(again, these are just guestimates)
