filter question

hey guys
didnt know where to post this so i thought id just try here

im getting an injen short ram intake for my civic, and ive read a lot abt when ppl are cleaning their used filter they always are told by others to put oil and let it soak in over night on the filter

im buying some regular cone filter for the intake, not a k&n or anything. before installing am i supposed to apply oil anywhere on the filter or is that only when cleaning a used filter? plz offer your knowledge here!
thanks in advance

smokedcivic has a little shameless behaviour in the past
well i usually spray the oil on the filter new or old just to make sure, now that is just for extra care i guess.
its really up to you though.
