IMO, yes it is! It is short ram but no need to worry. It still works well, plus no need to be concerned about hydrolock!

To be honest, man you are only going to get like 5hp TOPS @ the crank. I say get either a actual cold air intake like Injen Race Division for its top end; works good with vtec which is what I got, EX. But guys on here favor K&N's FIPK 2 because it performs good all around. Go with whatever one is the best bargain to you, but both AEM models are good stuff.

01civicUP, yours whacks against the hood too?!?! Damn, dude we paid like at least 185 bones to get poorly engineed stuff like this? My one wouldn't even reach the bracket bolt hole, so the rubber connector sleeves and metal tighteners are all thats holding it in place. Nevertheless, it performs a lil' stronger than stock and it sounds throaty after 4gs, especially when VTEC punches in!

maybe you guys have the rubber connectors switched around. One is longer than the other. Try that.

MY CAI didn't fit either

I had a CAI that didn't fit my engine either. The bracket coming off the CAI didn't reach where it needed to go. It was installed right too. People making parts for Honda need to check themselves. Mine is holding on by just the first pipe coming off the engine, and the first bracket. Nothing else.

When I really slam the gas you can hear it hit sometimes. Probably gonna have to rip it off and find a replacement?!

the effects of an intake for a DX/LX is different from EX. But I stand by my choice. But priorities. See what is most important to you.

I have the AEM V2 on my DX, and you can tell the differance. That one is dynoed at a 12 hp gain on lx/dx, but only like 5 on the EX. I really felt some gain when I installed the OBX 4-1 header and Thermal R&D catback and got rid of that tiny little header and 1 3/4 in. stock exhaust.

yea the aem v2 is a SHORT RAM INTAKE for our cars not a cold air intake... it wouldnt fit so AEM had to change it.... i ended up selling my v2 for a fipk2 sounds basically the same but i can feel more power with the fipk2 no low end loss plus top end power... excellent

The AEM V2 is an intake that utilizes sound waves and air to produce more throughout the powerband. Remember, this does not mean that the peak HP gain will be higher, but overall the HP gain throughout the powerband will be more than a CAI. Another good plus--no hydrolock worries (at least for the RSX) .

There is a guy on the timeslip page who has just the AEM V2 and catback exhaust on his DX, and it ran a 15.8. If you had that on an EX, it would still be in the 16s. I'd say that result speaks for itself.

^^ Holy crap, thats pretty impressive for just 2 mods! As for Injen's RD intake, I think there was a intake shoot out in Turbo mag or Super Street, or somehting I dont know....... basically the Injen had more PEAK HP, but didnt gain as much on the low end like the V2...
somehow the V2 is pretty good on the LX/DX
