Could anyone explain to me why is the significant difference between a Cat-back exhaust system and aftermarket mufflers?(besides the fact that mufflers are weld on)

cat-back is whole setup its rite after the header to the tip of the cat back muffler, unlike muffler is just the tip, you will get a lil hp gain on catback but not muffler,

Do a header back setup for the most power. Not much from the EX, but the LX/DX get some power out of it because their pipes are 1 3/4 stock and 2 1/4 with a header/catback. I have a DX, but havn't gotten my Thermal catback in the mail so I just stare at my header till I can install it.

cat back systems utilize bigger exhaust pipes compared to the OEM ones.
you will gain some horsepower from cat backs where as a weld on muffler is just gonna sit there and do nothing except make noise.
