I'm thinking of cutting my shifter down so it doesn't look so damn long, I'm just wondering if anyone else has cut there shifter down (any pics). I know about the revo ss and I've heard mixed reviews on it, so thats why I'm just thinking about cutting it.

cutting it will be ok after that you just have to rethread it but wouldnt do nuthing to performance wise, looks will be okay but SEARCH and you will find.

Ive had my revo for little more then 2 years and no problems. And Im not "easy" on my car, so the shifter has been used, heavily (think autocross, Upshifting, downshifting ect ect ect.....)

as far as cuting the thing, sure you could cut the stock shifter, but you wont get any better performance out of it. (a short shifter doesnt just have a short handle, it actually moves the cable hookups to shorten the distance you need to move the shifter to shift gears....)

i cut mine like 1 1/2 inches, and i also have the short shift adapter, workes fine and looks better, you just gotta use an after market shift ***, the stock ones are ugly anyway

i have the Neuspeed adapter (wouldve gotten the revo, but got this for x-mas; im not complaining!). I have an RSX shift ****, so I really want to keep the threading, and i think it would be really hard to accurately thread those huge threads. So I was thinking; would it be possible to have a shop cut the stick in half, then cut one of the pieces 1.5" or so shorter, and then have them weld it back together? I don't think it would be that expensive, and if the weld is good, then it should hold up fine, and you keep the stock threads...what do you think?

/\ A thread die could easily do what you want most tap/threading sets have multiple threadings so there should be one that fits.

im sure that it would be big enough; im just concerned that...thats a huge thread, and it would take a lot of power to carve away the metal. You'd have to protect the base of the shifter really well while you're doing it, and I think with that large of a thread, and therefore that powerful of a drill needed, you could easily mess it up.

i was thinkin of doing the same thing. what if you cut out a 1 1/2" section and welded the thread part back on? n e one familiar or tryed it, i really wanna keep the factory shift ****.

Re-threading sound like a good idea I surprise I didn't think of it. I am a Tool & Die Apprentice that all I do most of the time is drilling and taping holes and machining. Its not all that hard to rethread the shifter the hardest part would be find the exact pitch of the thread ( type of thread metric or Imperial) might have to remachine the diameter of the shifter cause the threaded part is a larger diameter then the shaft. could take sometime to do though I will have to give it a try, if I screw it up then I'll have to order the Revo SS. Here's a hint it mostlikely is a metric thread cause all of the bolts in the vehicle are metric trust me on that one, holla back!

wouldnt cutting the shift **** down create a imbalance and the shifting to feel much different, cause im sure the shifter is balaced evenly so it doesnt feel wierd, i mean, im going to go with the revo and greys upgrade kit.

Imbalance??? What the hell are you talking about think about for a minute, shorting the shifter is just the same concept as the Revo SS was designed from. Only if you cut it past that little bend in the shifter will there be an imbalance don't do that and everything will be fine. I'm not tryin to be an expert or anything but people have done this DIY before so if there was a problem with it they might have posted it.

if there was a balance, then changing the shifting **** would mess it up just as much as cutting the shifter would? Im not flaming you, but since so many people change ***** without a significant effect, then I don't see how cutting it could change that much.

hmm...that could work. I dont think i'd want to glue my shifter on though, cuz then you couldn't take off your center console. But you may be onto something. It's probably more reasonable, though, to just use a dye to re-thread the shortened stick.

stock oem honda threading is 10mm x 1.5

you are gonna need to make the diameter of the top inch of the shaft smaller before you rethread tho..

step 2 :neuspeed short shifter

final product: lower and a shorter throw

easy two step process, simple as that!

Umm yeah anyways.

Buy the REVO, then when it comes in use the OEM one to practice your re-threading so if you jack it up, then it's no big deal, because you still have the REVO. Then once you figure out how it needs to be re-threaded, then cut your REVO down a bit, use the same method to re-thread it, and get a new **** and have a good day. .

Don't forget the alum bushing upgrade is sweeet.

seriously you can use a momo and cut the shifter down no problem if you want. youll see the shifter goes pretty far up in it. the **** is a lot lower than stock even without any cutting

the nuespeed and dc short shifter adapters suck! ive heard that they cause alot of wear on your transmission you said sell the revo and get a momo ?
momo doesnt make a short shifter for our cars. i think only obx and revo do make the full assembly. the revo is a great product i got mine for 97$ to my door from hondawerx
so i really dont think you know what thre hell you are talking about
everyone that has the revo says that it was one of the best upgrades they could have done.
i love mine and i wouldnt trade it for some 80$ addapter
