too cold to keep sub in trunk (its been like 20 or below for weeks!) ???

hey guys, its me again...

have a question...

here in nyc its been like 20 degrees or less for a few weeks now, is it too cold to be leavin my sub (triangle bazooka enclosure) in the trunk all the time? i dont wanna have that thing crack or something, i took it out and put it in my house for now, but if its ok to leave it in then ill put it back in, anyone have any suggestions??? do you guys take out your enclosures in the winter??? just curious, thanks for all your help!!!

It's fine, just play it at very moderate levels till it warms up in the car. My speakers have been sounding muffled for about 10-15 minutes right after I start my car in the extreme cold. It's caused by the rubber surround being cold and stiff, and are restricting cone movement. If you play it too loud it'll stress the surround and cone and possibly crack.

i always let them warm up too.....play them at low levels.

I took my subs out (JL W3 V2) shotu liek crap when its -20 C (Toronto) will put it back in in the spring not heat in trunk. Miss my subs..

the subs heat themselves too. they aren't 100% electricity to noise machines, you're gonna have heat. they also have resistance from the air they are trying to move creating heat (more in sealed boxes.

i like the DIY heated trunk though. or put the amp inside the sub box, THAT'd get things heated up lol

why WOULD someone even think of put an amp inside the box anyways? That would be interesting.
