Ok, the time has come for me to throw down some money on some upgrades for my stereo due to a blown speaker. Here is what I'm planning. Replacing my focal 165V's (blown speaker) with the 165v 2's along with an amp to power em. The amps I'm thinking of are the JL 300*2 (Onlinecarstereo.com for $349), or Audiobahn A2801T for the same price. Any input would be a big help on the amp choice, or if you have another suggestion??? Also, should I consider the JL 300*4 to power my rears, or should I not bother cause their running off my headunit 7893 Alpine, my rears are Kenwoods. Either way after doing this, I hope to be finished with my audio part of my car, sorry I need my trunk and don't need to thumping of amp.
Personally I would take the JL amp over the Audiobahn anyday.
As far as powering the rears. I would only power them if you think they need to be louder than they already are. Somehow I doubt that. Personally in my car deck power is more than enough to power the rears where they are loud enough to be heard along w/ my fronts.

The reason I recomend powering the rears is because the radio is gonna peak and distort alot faster than the fronts with the amplifier will, there for you get distortion from the rears as you turn the volume up and get horrible sound.
Thats what the gains on the amps are for.
* Turn all amps off.
* Turn up the HU until distortion from the HU starts.
* This is the new max HU volume, a majic number so to speak.
* Turn on amp by amp and up the gain until distortion starts.
* Once all amps are set like this ALL speakers in the system will start to distort at the same time, which is the max volume you just found.
* Now you can balance the system by turning gains DOWN.
Also as long as you have subs and amplified highs, you should have the bass at 0, and no bass boosts on, the eq flat, etc. You should easily be able to drive the rears to almost full volume off deck power without barely any distortion at all. Even w/ my fronts amped and my rears deck powered, to keep the rears from being too loud, I am faded almost +9 to the front.
