Angry engine noise after oil change?!?!?

ok, I went to get an oil change a couple days ago. When they finished i got in my car to take off. I have a manual car with a remote start system. That means I am not required to press the clutch to start the car. I ALWAYS leave my car on neutral with the parking brake up, and I proceed to turn the car on by JUST turning the key. That's exactly what I did after the oil change. Because they had left it in first gear, my car "jumped" a few feet forward before i was able to press the brake. The car stalled and turned off. When I turned it on again, there was a high level of engine noise coming from the speakers. I asked the guy what the hell they had done, but he claimed they had only changed the oil.

OK....so what could it be?? I went straight to my audio shop, and they popped out the dash n said the wire for the filter was disconnected. This greatly reduced the engine noise for a lil while, but it started to get more aparent a couple hours after. i went back to the audio shop, and they told me the outputs were bad (I have an Pioneer AVH-P6400....supposedly the outputs go bad fast in the pioneers.... ). They said they could take it to get it repaired, but it would cost me $120. Could it be that the oil change people did something to my car? Or could it have been that me making the car jump when I turned it on somehow affected my stereo?? Can I go back to the oil change people and get reimbursed??? dammit, i hate it when stuff like this happens!

This is why you should change your oil yourself.

Just playin man. I really doubt the oil change people did anything to your car; even if they did, you are gonna have a hell of a time proving it. In my experience, pioneers do tend to break a lot; but a lot of people have no problems with them so I donno. Your only option really is to send it out to get fixed, or buy a new HU.

If thats the case, he has some really shitty connections, and he should redo them all.

no, its true, but ive only seen it on your radio. this isnt the first time its happened in personal experience, but only with that particular pioneer, ive never heard of it happening to any other pioneer radio.

in our situation the stereo tried to temporarily grab tons of power through the RCA shields, and fried the preouts on the radio. it worked fine, but there was this gainy static, and BAD alternator whine constantly while it was on.

its easily possible something spiked the outputs on that radio.

it might not be you that messed it up. ive stalled tha car out like that many times testing out my homebuilt remote starter.

but then again, i dont have that radio, and the 2k1 civic that had that radio that fried was an auto, caused by a rockford amplifier malfunction.

i dont guarantee it was you, but i cant discount it either. same with teh oil change place, theres no way they will pay for it
