Why do people hate on air intakes?
i know i know... not another dumb intake thread?right? well i'm not askin any stupid questions or nothin. i would like to say that today i took my air intake out cause it has to go to the dealer and i don't trust them enough to take it in like it is cause they'd probably say "oh well that's gonna void your warranty."
and i was suprised becuase when i first put my intake in and everything i was like man i don't feel any difference at all, but when i put it back to stock i noticed that with my sri there was a big difference in the mid range pick up. what i mean by that is, i could be goin 60 and here comes an old lady in front of me and i stomp it to beat the oncoming traffic and that mug reved up fast and shot me past like it was nothin. when i put it back to stock i was driving and i got curious so i was goin 60 or so and i stomped it and man it was so much slower than it had been and it was very noticeable not just my imagination. There was a major lag in between me puttin my foot down and the car actually tryin to accelerate (slow too i might add). alright to get to the end of this, just cause you may not think it's doin anythin, that doesn't mean it isn't because it really is helpin out.

becuase intake header and exhuast combo can cost hundreds and yeild reletively low gaines. if u wanna be any faster in a D17, forced induction is the only way.
I/H/E might technically make a few more hp, but the gains are so little its easily cancled out by a system in the trunk or heavy rims/ bodykits.

there will be some difference, but i don't know about the fipk since its tube is like plastic, but my aem when the throttle body sucks air through that metal pipe you get that weed eater kinda sound but you get used to it and kinda like it. i've heard lots of good things about the fipk, i was gonna get one but i got aem instead cause it looks good and i got a good deal on it.
i have an ebay "racing" intake, and I feel the same way. I noticed a big gain in the m midrange, and really dont feel I lost any lower end torwue or power. I don't have an exhaust either.
