hardwiring radar detector?

Ok awhile back i saw a dyi on hardwiring a radar. now that i have a radar detector i can't find the dyi anymore. so i was hoping that someone could helpme out

i did that in my concorde, i just wired it up to a switch and put it next to the guages, it was pretty sweet, but i just leave it plugged in now since the 12v output is switched. and i dont wanna make it look dumb like i did w/ my old car :P
