I recently bought the Alpine CDA-9807 and it came with a free set of
2-way 6 1/2's by profile. Are the stock door speakers in the LX equipped
with tweeters? I've never heard of Profile brand, and I'm trying to determine
if it would be worth the time to install these in place of the stock speakers. I plan
on updating the whole system with better mids/highs in the future, but I could
possibly use these for a quick fix until I get more money. Thanks

yeah they will fit
profile arent the best but they will be better than stock until you get new system
stock doors are not equiped with tweeters
I say put them in and see if they sound better.

hondah - I think it's likely you will. When I was shopping Crutchfield initially, only one or two speakers the recommended were techically compatible - I spoke to two reps at the time and neither mentioned custom installation for them, but I wasn't quite aware of the stock bracket situation at the time. I thought the install would be similar to our 98 civic, of which the front speaker grille pops out and the speaker screws in very easily.
I ended up buying Boston Acoustics comps from Tweeter and had them do custom baffles - unless Honda changed the speaker design again for the 2k2 model (my guess is no) then you will have the same issue with aftermarket speakers.
If you're comfortable with doing it, take off one of your door panels and see how they are mounted.

IMO, its not worth installing those Profiles... Unless of course the shop/store you bought it off of installs them for free... I got free ones of those 2 years ago when I put a CD player in my older integra... Man did those profiles suck... They were a lot worser than my stock... Its all up to you though... Just tellin you my experience with those speakers... Oh yeah, they also go for $25 bucks or so... That's why you got 'em for free.

hondah - $80.00 for the baffles and door installation. The guy was also cool enough to check the entire installation for me. I've installed equipment before, but I'm not a pro. It was nice to have someone else check it over and not find any problems.
If you do decide to have speakers custom installed, it's worth the extra $$. I haven't ever had Profile speakers, but if they are indeed worse than stock, then it's not worth your time or money.
I really didn't want to spend as much as I did but it was worth it.

thanks guys for the replys - i think i will just wait and do it right when i get the cash for something good - profiles don't seem to have a good reputation, lol - doesn't sound like a quick fix anymore
it will be easy to put then, all u gotta do is drill 4 small holes in the sheet metal. its very thin and makes it very easy to drill into. Besides, your gonna have to do it anyways when u put in good speakers anyways
wire it all up and your done, if its your first time, it should only take a couple hrs
