but if you have a sealed box, after running it low for about 10-15 minutes, the heat it generates will warm it up. you just don't want the rubber surround to be brittle and break.
in cabin speakers can break too.

im sure if you run it from straight cold to full blast it can have an effect, but im also sure if you let it run al low volumes for a little bit youll be better off... personally, i live in miami so i have no experiecnce with the effects of cold on anything
I live in upstate NY. I have a pair of SoundStream SPL 12's that I used from high school till about 2 years ago (1995 - 2001). Up here at times it gets -20 to -30 Farenheight. Personally I never worried about it or thought about it. ..... and I have never had a problem. They still work great and I am giving them to my brother, he turns 16 soon. I moved on to the Eclipse Aluminums ... going for more SQ.

i don't really hear distortion, but my speakers are quieter at first. why? not getting the full excursion.
am i going to test this too much? no, i don't need to be buying new subs all the time. but i bet in a ported box it could be a problem.
