Question Hi flow cats smell?

I agree, when I first put mine on it smelled funny too. I thought it would burn off, but now and then I still smell it. I think right now some of it is from my 91 octane in the tank. I know, my bad, had a brainfart, but until that is gone I will be dumping the unburnt fuel into the cat you know. Bummer, tell me if you find out what the smell is. I got my from Aimspot on ebay. He put perfect welds on it.

Also - I have a problem along the way with that cat, my engine check light comes on after I put the cat on. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer, but it comes back. I even checed to make sure nothing was loose and reset it again. What is it? Is it because I'm using the 91 octane right now? I'm going back to 87, lik eI should but I know the computer thinks I'm not burning right. Tell me what you all think it is. Laters

The cat seems to make the car run rich...I noticed it when I installed my HP header and high flow cat....After i got my VAFC II tuned, it cleared it up and leveled out my air/fuel mixture... As far as the the CEL that Crackhead is having, you need to properely install a o2 simulator.

I did tighten up the O2 sensor just fine. The plug is good too. Thanks for the kick in the head. Cwik

What are you talking about??? I'm not talking about the o2 sensor...I'm talking about a simulator to trick the ECU telling it that there is still a cat there. When you take the factory cataltic convertor out, it causes the the CEL to come on. That high flow cat is nothing but a straight pipe...

My Headers gave my car a nasty smell but that's it. I have a hi flow cat also, but there wasn't a smell from that. I can only smell the header while I'm outside of the car

It's cool!!! All you need is the o2 sim to get the CEL to stay off as for the smell, it's just the car burning a little rich...It's not really that bad to burn a little rich, which means the ECU is telling the injectors to dump more fuel into the combustion chamber due to the higher amount of air flowing across the sensor. If it bothers you that bad, get a air/fuel controller (VFAC, AFAC) and have it tuned I hope this helped

man its an 02 simulator

i gutted my cat and jusr put on a ceramic coated catback it really stincks because the exhaust has to get broken in.. as for the cat smell its totally normal.. the only thing that sucks is if you get a smart cop that pulls you over he will know you are running straight pipes
