Advice on an mp3 deck
Im planning on getting a mp3 player for xmas, the one I have in mind is the Alpine 9807, just wondered if anyone could offer advice as to why I should(n't) get it. Any help would be great, thanks.

Alpine is one of the top brands for sound quality and has one of the best mp3 interfaces. Very easy to scroll through music. Nice features.

why pioneer?
my deh-p7300 seems to be doing a pretty good job
The only thing with my7400 that i dont' like is the liad tiem between tracks. I don't know, mayber the higher models are better, or maybe a different brand. I'd test out the alpine or other brands to see.

Oh man my high end unit is terrible at loading. I once put an mp3 cd in and it took almost 2 mins to load up and start playing! Then it takes a few seconds to switch songs. Oh well, not too bad once the cd is in memory. Newer ones solve this I think. Alpine is the best at it, as well as kenwood (but we all know those decks are getting bad now).
whats up, another winnipegger!!!!!
I have the 9811, and have nothing bad to tell ya, But I do have to say I love this deck.
The time correction and bass focus makes a huge difference in our cars and it sounds great!
What does the rest of your setup consists of, Because if you don't have amps and subs then the 9807 might be ok. But if you have a decent system already then go with the 9811 and use all of the nice extras, well worth the price.

Alpine is great, with the audio, but if you care about the looks, I have a JVC KD-LH2100 MP3, and you can upload your own pics! the unit is great, sound good, with a 7band eq, and looks damn good, And works good too. don't forget to choose your fav color for the display!

Definately plan for the future. I thought I'd never be getting the speakers amped, but here I am today with two amps. You'll learn alot over the years--maybe even enough to install it yourself. That may change your mind later.

This seems to be a common grip with Mp3 player owners.
I thought I'd be using the Mp3 feature alot more than I have. I still listen to regular 74 minute CD's.
Even the higher end pioneer units had problems with lag time in between tracks. My premier 840 took almost 11 seconds between songs, so that had to go. I got an alpine 9813 after that and the deck was awesome but in our cars its really hard to see because of the angle of our dashs. So i got rid of that and got the 9815 which is awesome. You can see it perfect during the day and night and it takes about .5-1 sec to change mp3 tracks. The sound quality was also a noticable difference when changing from pioneer to alpine. I would definatly suggest an alpine for an mp3 deck.
