quick quetion:monster rca prob
ok.. i just bought an amp for my fronts(605cs).. and i bought an rca cable.. but when i connected it it had this loud static.. but when i connected my walmart rca cable it was gone.. now the monster rca cable had this small wire in the middle.. do i need to ground that to get rid of the static? if not then wht is that small wire for?
and about the power wirirng.. i have a sub with an 8 guage power wire and ground.. i was thinking of just splicing the power wire to power up my new amp.. will it work or do i have to buy a distribution block as well?? thanks!

u dont necessarily need to get a distro. block, but each amp needs its own wire, but most importantly, its own fuse.
if u choose not to get a distro block, and run 2 wires from the batt. then you need two fuses as well.
if u get the distro block..dont split the wire in the trunk...try to do it as close to the batt. as possble, and inside the distro block will be the two fuses needed.
the reason for this is that each amp might require a different amp. rated fuse.

ive had problems with monster cable as well, not with static, but alternator whine, i dunno. but it seems that problem is solved anyways.
definitely go with the D-block for yoru amplifiers, they are cheap cheap at radioshack. just make sure your power wire has enough current capacity to support both the amplifiers. theres no need ot purchase a fused D block, as long as yoru wire is fused close to the battery, thats all thats important.

alright.. thanks guys! oh btw. u havent answer my question about the small wire in between my rca cables.. and im having problems with the install because the sound is skipping.. what do u think the prob is? i have my gains turned down.. i know its not the cd.. but its skipping..
Walmart sells a dual amp kit for like 20 bucks. It is an AWESOME deal. It comes with enough power cable for both amps, a d-block (you don't really need a fused d-block) and rca cables and all. Everything you need to setup your two amps. And its a really good deal. Definately check that out.

Some or all of the monstaer rca cables have directional arrows too. the bare wire that you see dosent always need to be grounded. I use them and have no noise with it not grounded. As i recall thou if you are getting noise try grounding that wire, it is connected to the inside shielding for the cable. Its been a few years since ive bought some . I dont recall the instructions on the wire for sure. Anyone know for sure?

its there for the remote wire. it was not intended to be grounded.
