I have a sedan, and the stuff is just flying all over the place when I'm stopping, accelerationg, turning, etc.
I have looked into the cargo net that is available, and not only is it darned expensive as hell, but it's not 'tight' enough... (it isn't as close to the back of the turnk as I'd like.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to partition out the trunk area into two areas? I have 1 big plastic RubberMaid box, plus a smaller cardboard box that I push deep into the trunk. So, they're about a foot in depth...
I was thinking of drilling holes into the cardboard/fabric trunk tray, and then installing your usual big 2" L brackets. That would be perfect, in that I can then pull them out to be able to pull out the boxes when I need them. Problem is, I know the hole is going to tear and stretch as it's really cheap cardboard/fibreboard stuff that the trunk tray is made of. Any ideas, suggestions? Any ideas on how to strengthen the holes?
Any other ideas? The carnet would have been good, but it's too darned expensive, and like I said, it partitions the trunk area not to my liking, so there's too much space for my boxes to fly around.

Macfay: I do have a spare. It's in my garage.
Tow truck driver: That's a good place to keep it. And you keep it there why?
Macfay: So I have some place snug to keep my rubbermaid box, you know, so it won't slide around when I stop short and stuff. I didn't want to sport the $75 for the cargo net.
Tow truck driver: oooo - kay.... Well, if you could sign the receipt right here, and that's going to be $150. We take cash and credit. No checks. How do you want to pay?

what kinda stuff you have in those boxes.
everything i need for a minnesota winter emergancy fits next to or in the tire under the cardboard.
i have jumper cables, blanket, candles, tow rope, flares, 1 gallon gas can, and most importantly duct tape.
