Question k20a4 info needed

hi there.

i am in need of some info on engines, specifically the k20a4 and k20a2. I am in south africa and can get my hands on a k20a4 locally, but the k20a2 i would have to import. Now since there is a difference in the k20a4 and a2 in the compression/torque/horsepower area i am wondering which is best, to get the k20a4 and look at some mods/bolt ons for it to be able to do a worthwhile engine swop in my Civic '01 or would it just be better to try and import the k20a2 engine.

I am not looking at adding a turbo as i want it to be as naturally asperated as possible, engine wise that is.

??

Hmm.. K20A4? I've never heard of that one. Do you mean the K24?

I searched Google and there are some references to K20A4's, but they're all in like Russian or something.
Anyhoo, I'm sure Honda-Acura.net or Temple of VTEC will have something...I'm just lazy.

Sorry, here in the states we do not have a k20a4. You're gonna have to get some specific information locally.

what i am trying to do is get a workshop manual from the states as a friend is over there for the Acura RSX Type S so that i can maybe see what they have changed. The K20A4 is probable a bit similar to the K20A3 with changed piston's, changed vtec cam timing etc so that they get low end torque.

The thing i am trying to consider is if it is worth while to try and get this K20A4 engine as an engine swop for my civic '01 and work on it, ie change the pistons, head ecu etc to get it as close to the K20A2 as possible or would it just be cheaper to import the whole K20A2.

I will have to look locally to see the parts and see which is more worth while.

Re: k20a4 info needed

I live in Japan and own a 2002 Honda Stream RN3. I've been doing a little studying because I want to do some surgery to my engine. Aparently the engine I have is the K20A4 but I could be wrong. (it might be K20A3). Stock it puts out 156ps and I estimate that now it puts out about 170?? Anyway so far I have given it a CAT-back stainless exhaust system, a BLITZ air intake system, an i-VTEC / fuel controller and a few other mods.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/439565/1

I want to give it the cylinder head from the Civic / Integra TypeR K20A (K20A2?) as this engine produces around 220ps. I'd go for the whole engine but it's quite expensive (about 400,000yen / 5000 dollars) which is why I want to do just the head. That will give me VTEC on the intake AND exhaust side of the head, not just the intake. Plus I should be able to keep my automatic transmission. If anyone knows any better please set me straight. I need to learn as much as possible.
