is the EX considered sportier than LX, thus making insurance premiums higher? i ask because my g/f is considering gettin an 03 or 04 and we're considering every price factor.

My insurance company told me that they classify the EX as a sports car becuase it has 10 more HP?! It drives me nuts because I pay for a sports car and I don't have one!

Those insurance *******s that make up this shyte are a bunch of goobers. I swear, i wish I could have my way with the person that decides that stuff for 10 minutes. I beat him to death. They friggin **** me off. Who the hell says a Honda Civic with a whopping 127 hp and its heavy 2600 lbs body is considered a "sports coupe"??? Are they seriously out of their minds? I finally got a break on my insurance. I switched companies, met the guy and he cut me all kinds of deals. I graduated college over a year ago and he stated that I still get a student honor discount. Then we BS'd for a while about hockey (he used to be in the NHL), I played in college = another break in my insurance. I used to pay over 2k, with this new guy I'm paying a little over 1k for the year. I have complete coverage and all. I finally lucked out somewhere.

It all depends on your insurance company.....depending on the state and company you may pay more because the car costs more, or you may pay less because it has ABS and optional side airbags. Perhaps you should call insurance companies and get whats called a rate quote.

allstate, its the motor and catagory not the make. go to allstate they know the difference between sports cars, and civics mine was only 75$
a month full coverage with me and my wife until i had my wreck..
they only raised it 50$ after and it replaced driverside door dash, and repaired quarter panel replaced winsheild and too much other stuff to list.... got tboned directly in the driverside door by a bronco at 40mph withno injuries needless to say he didnt drive away i did hehe
