arguement against tinted windows

i read somewhere on this site that the reason y dark windows are illigle is because they worsen then visibility of the driver. i thought its because the cop has to see whats going on inside the car, but it turns out thats not the reason. anyway, if visibility for the driver is the reason y dark tinted windows are illigle, then y are people allowed to have sun glasses while driving? when i wear my sun glasses it makes everythign a lot darker around me compared to my 20% tinted windows. would this be a good thing to bring up in court if u get pulled over for it?

its called a common sense law and the only windows in most states that can not be dark are the driver side and passenger side windows. The rest of the car in most states or truck for that matter can be tinted to 5% or 2% . From what I got from a local cop that I know is so that you can see the lines and thats the whole purpose thats all .

the reason y i mentioned this is because on this site som1 wrote that cops pull people over for tinted windows because that the tint obstructs the drivers vision; not because they cant see inside. <~~~ going by that i brought up the sun glasses thing. the person who wrote that they pull u over because tint makes the dirvers vision worse said that he actually looked it up in a law book. i always thought its because they didnt see u. so instead of indirectly calling me a dumbass understand where i came up with the idea abotu the sunglasses from...

the funny things is that the cops can drive those "undercover" cop cars with the darkest tint made, on ALL windows, INCLUDING the windshield. so because you're a cop, your vision is better than my 20/20 vision?? and i know cops are "special" people and have their windows tinted dark to help "protect you and me" but we arent talking about that here. we're talking about the tint obstructing your vision.

I've talked to many cops about this subject, and every single one has said it's for THEIR safety - so they can see what's going on inside.

some of the cops probably dont even know the real reason behind it. whatever justifies the fact that he stopped you/gave you a ticket, will work for them

You've got to remember that it varies from state to state. In my area, you're not allowed to have any tint on the front windows, but I have 30. The cops I talked to said that would be ok since you can still see through it under normal conditions. He literally said "It's not that we don't want you kids to have good looking cars - it's for our own safety. If someone in the car has a gun, we'd like to be able to see it before it's too late."

i believe there are probably several underlying factors concerning why some tint and in some cases no tint is allowed. i know in maine you have to have a certificate from the place that installed the tint, failure to produce certificate on demand of a law enforcement officer results in a summons/ticket.

In CT 20% and less is illegal. Mirror tints are illegal, as well as colored tints (yellow, blue, green, red.)

I am getting 35% all around.

And it is illegal to tint your front winshield.

I think it depends on where you live. I got pulled over in Utah and California because of my tint. Neither cop gave me a ticket though but they both gave me a 10 minute conversation about how it is illegal in their state because of safety reasons.

I also learned that windsheild tint is illegal in case if someone were in a situation where both doors were jammed shut, and going through the windsheild was the only option, tint would prevent the glass from shattering.

BTW i have 5% front and back
