me vs 6thgen "si"

me vs 6thgen "si"
so im cruising down the freeway when this red 6thgen pulls up to me and revs at me and i look over and notice some dohc vtec stickers on the side and he has si rims too
so im debating if i wanna run with him, then i look over again and notice the older 6thgen front on his car, now i know that the si only had the newer front on the car so i slow down to see if hes got ex emblems or something on the back, and he has si emblems
so being that the way was pretty much clear, i look over at him and nod, he nods and i let him take about a car length before i start flooring it in 3rd
i usually am in 4th on the freeway but i had to beat this guy in sooo bad
so i pulled on him and passed him.. and i shut him down at 110...
i pull into a gas station for some gas and the guy roll up and starts pumping gas too
he comes over and strikes up a conversation with me
him: dude so why is your car so fast?
me: its not THAT fast, i just have some boltons.. the exhaust and intake...
him: no i dont think so, you had to have been spraying
me: no juice, just gas, so then why is your si so slow?
him: its not slow, its faster than other cars
me: how do you know that?
him: well no one wants to race me...
me: well can i see under your hood
him: sure i just have the intake and jdm header
he pops up the hood and waht do i find? a d16
me: so you know thats a d16 right?
him: no, si's had b16's
me: yes, and thats not a b16, have you ever seen a b16?
him: what and you have? how do you know its a D16?
me: dood count the cams
him: whats a cam?
at this point i know he knows jack about cars, and honestly, he looks too young to be driving, parents probablly bought the car for him thinking it was a real si.. anyways i point to where the engine code is stamped and ask him to read it
he got pissed
so i look in his car expecting to see a stick and si gauge cluster... nope.. its an automatic
there was an si sticker on the gauge cluster with some reverse indiglo faces
me: you mean you didnt know you just got an ex?
him: my parents got it for my 16th birthday
me: they got ripped off if they paid more than 10k for it
him: i dont care anymore it still runs nice but let me see under your hood
so i agree, open my hood
him: dude you have the same engine as me!
me: its actually a d17(as i point to the engine code)
him: so why is it faster?
me: cause i have a stick you have an auto, have u ever heard of an automatic si?(rubing in the fact that he didnt have an si)
he got pissed again, and was like, well at least i have a cool looking ride
so thats my story... i just hate stupid people that dont even know what their cars are

Oh man....... Some people.... Well, it's true. It is a learning process. I didn't know too much about Civics when I bought mine, but I did know the difference between SOHC and DOHC. And the guy didn't sound like a total jackass since he seemed to learn and accept the fact that his car wasn't an Si. It was probably a very embarrasing situation for him, and hopefully he'll do a little more research from now on and learn what the hell he's actually driving. He's only 16. Give him a break.
