Thumbs up Civic > VW Golf sumthin or other

Ok so I was driving to my bros house & this nice looking VW golf GTI or 1.8 or whatever they are, with a nice non rice exhaust, guns it around me then slows down, I could tell it was a 5spd too. So im thinking ok homeboy wants to go huh, so then I just start playin around. Im not too into street racing but I was bored & the particular road was a fun one that I knew well. So I take off past him & slow down just messing around. Then we pull up to a light & line up. I didnt feel like launching or anything cuz im not too good at it & I wasnt really wanting a real race anyway. So he gets about a car length off the line & I start to pull ever so slightly, I let off when were even around 70 or so. Next light same thing, he gets the jump & I pull slightly ahead & let off, did that a couple of times, but I wasnt really pushing it too hard. Next light I look over to give him thumbs up & smile then I realize, its an good friend of mine that I hadnt seen in a few years!! We both were like WTF?? He was like nice ride man, I was like thanks, whered you get that Golf, its really nice, you know the usual talk, then I pulled off the line ahead & shifted hard intentionally & barked second under a bridge, it sounded cool, then I turned & left. It was really wierd & I was proud of my little honda, I dont really race it too much cuz im not really expecting to beat anything in a straight line other than crappy tag-alongs that nobody cares about.

Oh yea only performance mods I have are K&N FIPKII, short shifter & Khumo Supras.

Golfs are slower than Civics...if thats hard to believe. I had a MKIV Golf and it only put out about 120hp, but on a much bigger and bloated chasis.

It must have been a regular 2.0 Golf. Those are only 115 hp. I drive my little brother's all the time and I can tell my Civic has more pull. If it was a 1.8T, he would've left you behind. My older brother has a 20th Anniversary 1.8T (180 hp) and after driving that, I know my Civic wouldn't stand a chance. Same if it was a VR6 (200 hp). Good kill though.

stock 1.8t runs low 15s. So unless you run 14s....you raced a 2.0 my friend.

Cool, good to know, I was thinking along those lines. I was sure he didnt have a turbo, i'm just not too familiar with VWs trim levels.

they might be slow but the TDI gets damn good gas mileage, plus it has alooot of torque.
