Well my car died today.
Luckily it turns out I'm a dumbass and left the lights on, haha.
I was flipping out...my car was making some weird noise (which turns out to be because the light switch was on, and the battery was drained). I couldn't start the car at all..the lights must have been on for at least 5 hours. My question is, could I have damaged anything (including the battery, which now works fine again after letting it charge up for a few min)? I'll be sure not to make that mistake again...I'm just really glad it's not something wrong with the car, and that it's my fault,

yeah lol. it's almost as bad as a static shock when I pull my key out and hear the noise. "*EEEEEEEEEEEEE* ah dammit!"
Also, if you drain your battery but it's not totally dead, recharge it by taking a nice long drive. Don't just let it run parked in place; it won't charge up when it's still.

The amount of juice the alternator puts out is relative to the RPM the your engine is running at... so standing still and revving it would be just as effective as driving it around... though... revving a engine without a load on it isn't the best thing ever... so I'd say, just drive the hell out of it for like 10 mintues and you should be good...

My car is an ex makes that annoying *** sound all the time and almost forgot to turn off the lights quite a few times but that sound just makes my ear bleeds and saves my battery from draining... >8)

I notice that my lights dim when I stop my car after driving for a while and go back to being bright when I step on the gas....so I am a supporter of the alternator not working as hard when in idle theory
