No More Modded Exhausts in PA?
This Morning I Read my local paper and it said the government passed a law to be More Strict on Modified Exhausts in PA. That Means that police can now pull you over for having a modified exhaust system of any type and fine you for it. They also will fine the shop that passed your inspection if they passed you with your exhaust installed. Also they can pull you over if they can hear your sound system 50 ft away. After Reading this i got annoyed that they would do something like that. Oh well im think im gonna move to the mountains

Wouldn't that put Meineke out of business? See, they have to modify your stock exhaust when they install their muffler. I think that's one of the stupidest laws ever. If your modified exhaust passes all state regulations then it should be legal, i.e. lower than the max dB, passes emissions, etc.

I live in Lancaster, PA it was in Saturday oct 4th's paper on the front page. They made that a law cause alot of people drive through neighborhoods waking up babies and waking up people who need sleep at night so the residents complain to the police about this.
Thts The Gayest Thing Ive Ever Heard In my life o well my exhaust is staying on and my system is staying up so go ahead they are gonna have to fine the honda dealer bc thts where my car got inspected

i believe it is state becasue my friend has recieved a ticket in willowsgrove pa and philly for a modified exhaust and noise polution. both times he was charged with both offenses. there are 3 police stations, including a state station within mins of my school, yes we are over loaded with cops, and they are cracking down on modified cars here as well becasue i go to a tech school with a huge automotive program and there are a thousand cars with exhausts.
Ok so, you can buy your car, drive your car, pay ridiculous prices for gas, but as soon as you try to make your car better, or more the way you want it to be, all the while still adhereing to state inspections and emissions, you'll get a fine? That is the most insane thing I've ever heard. Soon you'll hear about laws being passed to the point where, auto-manufacturer's will have you by the proverbial "*****' and that if you want a $30k car, you have to pay $30k and if you can only afford a $20k car, but want to improve it, you can't.
Sounds like somethings going on behind the curtains if you ask me.

exactly, but that wont be illegal, neither will classic cars and hot rods with straight pipes or hick trucks with straight pipes.
it is ****ing gay. pa sucks. if they are going to take away our exhausts, atleast fix the roads and cover the entire state with a dome so we dont get snow and then we can slam our cars to the ground.

Here's another one, you don't have to wear a helmet to ride a motorcycle, but you have to wear a seat belt in a car.
Whats with the politicians and telling people that ride bikes everythings ok, yet people that drive cars are getting more restrictions against them?

I saw this on a Pittsburgh car club's forum...
OAKLAND -- Oakland police have begun a crackdown on whistle tips - the notorious noise makers that people install in the exhaust systems of their cars. Undercover officers are citing muffler shops that install them, and giving drivers with them $91 tickets.
Driver Bubb Rubb bragged about having the noisemakers, "The whistles go woo... woooo."
Neighbor Roxanne Bruns said, "They think it's a fad and it's going to go away. It's not going to go away."
But Oakland traffic cops say it wasn't hard to discover that the whistle tips were never legal in the first place. By law, you can't alter a car beyond the auto manufacturer's original design. So police are tracking down violators.
Tamani Fontenette got busted. He didn't install the whistle tip on his vehicle. He says he just bought the car.
About the ticket he received, Tamani says, "I'll spend another 100 and get that tip taken off there."
And undercover cops are citing muffler shops.
One muffler dealer told us he is relieved. Muffler shop owner John Rodgers has installed about 30 whistle tips. "I find it annoying, but I would rather take their money than have them go down the street and go to the next shop," he says. "They [the police] bring it to a stop, that's great, 'cause I don't like it."
So let the noisemakers beware. The loud and noisy ride is no longer free. On the second citation, your car will be towed.

are you sure you read that one right???? B/c I know that they are doing the smog legal only thing in PA, which just means you need your cats.... But I dunno abou the whole no custom exhaust I would poop on cop cars if it was true
heh, I have a loud exhaust AND I removed the cat....
Philly cops haven't ****ed with me yet... unless i deserved it (got 1 speeding ticket) and even when pulled over for that, I didn't get bothered for my tint, exhaust, blue lights or anything else for that matter....
... Oh, and I'm guessing he got a good listen to my exhaust while tailing me @ 80 mph just before pulling me over to give out the ticket
