Apexi World Sport Exhaust....

I Loked at the HKS Hi Power rear section, and doing an aftermarket resonator, but decided for $50 more, I would just get the world sport catback.

The question I have is, are there any gains with this system, they are said to be quiet, and I like that, but Ive been told that quiet ussually means there isnt much gain, so should I expect any hp from it at all?

Any input ill be appreciated.

Just because an exhaust is quiet does not mean it has no gains. The pipe form your cat back is 60mm if I'm correct which is about 2.33inches. Compared to you stock piping it's pretty big. The bigger piping is what gives you gains. Your gains may not be very noticible but you've got a 1.7L engine. What can I say.

You'll probobly get like 3hp. Which is not that much, but its noticible.

bigger piping doesnt always mean more power, though. if you go too big, you may end up losing power. with the world sport you'll probably gain somewhere between 2-4 hp.

Here's the key to this...
to make it quiet, the muffler's got a little restriction in it, just the nature of the beast.... but there's a good part to that....
the little thing called mid-range torque. The little backpressure that remains is actually helpful, and rather than just blowing all the exhaust out in a loud farting stream, the restriction helps keep the exhaust moving along (It sounds wierd, but you need the pressure difference to keep the air moving quickly. The backflow and recirculation creates a smaller area for the escaping gas to run through, and it accelerates...which in turn pulls the exhaust out of the engine more effeciently).... and lets you keep the torque. There needs to be some backpressure in the exhaust for it to work right (In a N/A application).. otherwise all you get out of it is top end when there's enough air flowing through to create the backpressure.
So I say go for it... My RS*R is the same way... doesn't produce max top end... but it makes more power usable in the middle... no more bogging down at 2300...

well, for the price difference, its actually just as expensive to get the cat back vs the rearsection with aftermarket resonator, or custom piping. Also my friend had a muffler installed with custom piping and it sounded terrible, and it was an HKS muffler.

i dunno about the earlier post regarding the hks looking better than ws. I think ws, rs-r, etc...those subtle and clean looking canisters and muffler tips are the best looking ones instead of 4.5 inch tip with a huge canister.
