honda SI in the states is the SIR in canada
that is why the honda EX is the SOHC VTEC sedan and coupe in the states.
in canada the EL was the EX alternative. i heard that the EL was being discontinued soon but not sure when that is happening...but the new EL is suppose to look nice...(source from honda)...
keep this in mind tho...
a honda civic isn't fast until you swap a motor into it.
a honda civic is an economical car that is fuel efficient.

I started a new thread before I found this one.

It's still not on the main site yet, but the brochure has the Si sedan listed. I wonder how they'll price it and juggle that with the EL. There is room for the EL to get better. It's a big gap between the 1.7L EL and the 2.5L TSX; if we're talking strictly sedan.

If I am reading this correctly this is Canadian market only being discussed. Are you saying this SI sedan will have the 160hp engine from the current SI hatchback? I'd like to have that engine in the EX coupe as an SI coupe. That would be a nice combination.
I doubt it...
Having the 160hp engine in the sedan means they must have that same engine in both manual and auto transmission.... With an engine that high strung, you think they can pull it off by mating it to an auto? I hope so, but I doubt it.
And, an EL with no leather == EL Touring edition.....
There's just no market space for the SI Sedan....!? Only thing I can think of are the would-be buyers of Honda Civics.... Instead of telling them to go to Acura for a higher end sedan, the sales people can now push what they have, the SI Sedan.
The luxury sub-compact sedan market is really really small... Supposedly only Canadians appreciate the added expense of leather, etc. in a small sedan.... We'll see...

Where did you get info that there is going to be an Si Sedan? I doubt it, they have it in the US because they dont' have the EL. If they make an Si Sedan then the EL would be phased out.
yeah, i saw the commercial too. but it just doesn't make sense to me why they would bring a sohc vtec sedan when the EL is available. They would be competing with themself (honda vs. acura). Unless there is a major change with the 2004 EL. Has anyone heard anything?

I do agree though that the Si sedan seems to be somewhat of a bad move on the part of Honda Canada in that they will now be competing against themselves for sales (Civic Si sedan vs. Acura 1.7EL). For years (since the EL came out in 1997) they didn't offer a SOHC VTEC powered Civic sedan for this very reason. In the long I think Honda may stand to lose money on this plan in that potential EL buyers will go for the cheaper price tag of the Si sedan over the 1.7EL.
is anyone actually interested in an si sedan?
like, anyone on thsi site who have family members, or friends that interested???
cuz, it just seems kinda pointless to me, for honda to do this when they already have a sohc vtec sedan in the EL

Sell very well? LOL... of course it will. But I don't think it will increase any sales. Did they lose that many sales due to the fact that it's missing 12 horsepower? I doubt it... I know as a fact that Si is barely quicker than LX (if at all), so in terms of test drive experience, it won't be all that different.
If anything, the new updated front face should stir up some new interest...
